Do you guys have any good historical documentaries to recommend? I'm feeling bored and lazy this weekend, and wouldn't mind kicking back and watching something interesting.

Ken Burns presents: The West (1996)

It's 12 hours long and split into 8 episodes.

Here’s a random one that stood out: Flora, Scenes from a Leadership Convention.

texasgurl,
Where you in the military? (I think I recall you mentioning this sometime ago, in a post).
It's just that your history recommendation here, gave me the impression you have/had a military background.

PS: I own the entire 12 part, WWII collection of Battlefield (1994) in Blu-ray. This "older" war documentary-ish collection is all about facts of WWII battles, and mainly concentrates on presenting each one using an "Order of Battle" format. It was originally aired on PBS.

It is "Series One" and "Series Two" as presented here in Wikipedia ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_(American_TV_series)

Yes I was.
The World at War (1973) is a good WWII documentary, the narration by Laurence Olivier is worth the price of admission.

Ken Burns' The Vietnam War was pretty good, but it is quite long so maybe you're looking for something shorter.

I didn't finishing watching it, but "wow" what I did see, was good.
The part that I found most interesting was the first two or three episodes. It gave so much detail on how the war started, and I did not know how complicated and how many parties/organizations/people (over so many years) where involved in creating the huge mess that lead-up to the Vietnam War.

On the topic of Ken Burns, I remember watching The War in APUSH class freshman year and loved it.

I’d recommend American Pie.

It’s a good documentary movie about life as a teenager in the 1990s USA.
