Tossup. Carlos Gimenez is an extremely strong candidate, plus Mucarsel-Powell only won by 1.7% in 2018.

Lean D, Giminez is a strong candidate, but so was Curbelo, this will probably be close though, I'd say Mucarsel-Powell+4 for now.

Lean D. If Gimenez wanted to be in Congress, he would run in 2022

Why didn't Carlos Lopez Cantrera run here? Strange!

Does he even live in the district?

Yes, he does. As for why he didn't run, he spent a while exploring a run to succeed Gimenez (he's had a well-known interest in being Miami-Dade Mayor for a while now) but I think he's become content with his lobbying gigs.

Back to the original question, as for my rating of this race from a local perspective: Likely D.

Even if Gimenez is a good candidate, this district has just moved too far left for Republicans to win it in a non-wave year.
