Interesting that Police Officers were a democratic demographic in 2016. they've likely shifted right since then.

Aren't a very high percentage of police officers non-white?  I am guessing amongst white police officers, Trump probably got close to 75%.  In 2016, Clinton likely won Hispanic police officers and Biden may have but Trump probably gained there.  Black police officers probably went close to 90% for Biden.

You shouldn't put "that" much stock into it. It's based on political donation so while it give you some kind of idea, it likely has huge margin of error per each profession.

It's possible that democratic police officers are far more likely to donate to democratic nominee than Republicans are to do for theirs. I highly doubt Biden won anywhere near half of police officers nationwide.

It's worth observing that Republicans lean toward professions that don't need a whole lot of people. (Truck drivers, Pilots, Surgeons, Farmers, Finance etc.)

Democrats lean toward professions that cater to a larger audience. (Performance, arts, professors, flight attendants etc.)

One shocking thing for me is that donations from Pastors, Reverend, Minister and Priests lean democratic.

For pastors and reverends, probably a high percentage are African-American while for priests many are Hispanic although white Catholics tend to be more competitive than white Protestants.  Amongst white pastors, reverends, and ministers, I suspect Trump got over 70%.  Likewise amongst non-Hispanic white priests, pretty sure Trump won too.

I think even among white pastors, ministers etc there is a big split where the elite of the Church are more democratic and the base more Republican, you see this effect elsewhere as well, union members being more Republican than union leaders.

Probably the only place where this is reversed is farms where the owners vote Republican but their Hispanic workers vote democratic although this year Trump likely gained with Hispanic farm labour as well.

GREAT STUFF! Thank you.

Disappointed but not surprised that donations from Catholic priests are 75% Republican.

The most surprising thing to me is probably the big diversity among skilled traders.

This is very interesting. I wonder how the results would be if adjusted for sex and race though.

I also found it very interesting that math/science/eng/IT are strongly D. There was a time 30-40 years back when engineers were overwhelmingly Rs, and most of the older engineers I've met are still remarkably right wing.

I'm also surprised that Episcopalian ministers are so much more D than Catholic ministers.

Democrats have been gravitating toward academics for a while. In IT/CS case, a lot of Indians and Chinese seemed to be taking classes at my time in college.

Engineers are still relatively right-wing though I've seen some faction of libertarians. It requires black and white thinking.

Episcopalians are generally more liberal than Catholics but I'm surprised at the lopsided margins myself. I did not expect any reverends, priests, ministers to lean democratic at all.

I've only met two episcopalian ministers in my life. Both were lesbians.

Mainline Protestant clergy have long been more liberal than their memberships.  It was the mainline Protestants that were most supportive of the Social Gospel in the early 20th century for example.
