While 1976 was certainly a step in the wrong direction, it really wasn't until Reagan got in that everything shifted so insanely far-right.

In the modern interpretation of the Democratic party? Yes very much so, Biden is taking positions Clinton nor Obama would consider, now many progressives might not find his tuition plan or social security age plans to be sufficiently progressive but compared to Clinton's proposed policies and Obama's? He's definitely more progressive.

Is his general election platform the most liberal of any Democratic nominee since McGovern? Yes, for sure. Is Biden's record throughout his career the most progressive of any other Dem nominee of the last 48 years? Not by a long shot.
