Has your usual alcohol consumption changed during the pandemic or in quarantine?

Mine has somewhat gone up, despite the fact I don't go to restaurants at this point. Usually I'm just a very modest drinker, enjoying a beer or glass of wine on weekends in addition to one of them once or twice during the week. These days I'm essentially having a beer or glass of wine almost every evening. I'm limiting myself mostly to just one, but on weekends a glass of wine at lunch and a beer after dinner isn't uncommon. I've even tried more sorts of beer since Covid-19 started. We're not in actual quarantine and get daily physical exercise outside as well as meet a very limited number of family members, but work from home.

Initially went wayyyy up (ask lfromnj, dude witnessed me almost die chugging London Dry on Zoom one night) but in the past 3 or so weeks it's gone down pretty significantly.

One new "habit" that I did develop relating to alcohol during all this though is that before all this I wouldn't drink during the week then binge and party on the weekends, but now I'm at the point that I pretty much just slam a few beers every night and don't really get blackout (at least in the last few weeks)

Alcohol is for success. There is little about this pandemia which fells like success.

As a depressant, alcohol is more enjoyable when you have something to celebrate with others.

I highly recommend people never drink under the following circumstances:

(a) Before noon;
(b) After midnight;
(c) By themself;
(d) Without a celebration of something.

Alcohol is the leading cause of social violence and unwanted pregnancy.

I haven’t drank any alcohol since February and plan to keep being completely sober until August 20.

I used to drink 1 or 2 beers in a night twice a month, now it's 3 or 4 times

Stayed the same overall. I'm drinking a little less wine and a little more mixed drinks (Cape Codders and gin and tonics, mostly). I have maybe one drink two or three nights a week.

I drink 4-6 nights a week, 0-2 nights consuming more than I should. I'm a bartender and cocktail enthusiast, so I usually drink pretty frequently, but the context and distribution of consumption has changed regardless of whether quantity has.

More than I should is probably more than you should.

I was thinking of posting my actual drinking habits, but it's a bit embarrassing tbh. Let's just say I'm sleeping on the couch a lot.

Gone up slightly only because I went from rarely drinking to buying a couple of six packs in the last few weeks. I just bought another six pack yesterday. I blame the nice weather.

Stayed the same. I only have like one drink a month these days, usually a cider.

Stayed the same/gone down/don't drink at all. I haven't had any alcohol during quarantine, but I had probably only had two or three drinks this year prior to quarantine anyway, so that's not much of a change.

Mine has gone up, but that's probably more attributable to me moving in with a roommate rather than living alone. I have a thing about drinking alone.

Good question, initially went up but now is down. If i did actually live alone, i would drink a lot of alcohol these days to counteract my depressive feelings. Alcohol abuse is also something existent in my family and i'm prone to it and to addictions. But fine, i think my alcohol usage is right now healthy, and always when i started to realize it became a problem, i stopped with it and went over to soda drinks / energy drinks, which is still bad, esp. since i emotionally drink and drink like 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 litres a day.

What did change heavily was my smoking behavior. I smoke a lot more now than I used to. Not sure why.

March 20th to March 27th: We were supposed to be in Italy, so we just spent a week at my parents' to visit them ... my drinking this week was for sure up a lot.

March 27 to Mid-April: Down from that first week but up over pre-Quarantine.  It's hard to gauge, as we used to love going out for happy hour drinks and dinner.  I think overall, though, total consumption was up a bit.

Mid-April to Mid-May: Probably actually lower, considering how often we liked to go out.

Mid-May to Now: Right back up ... staring out my apartment windows (which cover most of our walls) at beautiful weather gets me all depressed, so hello booze!

Not really. I don't drink alone so Ive only been drinking on some weekends at social gatherings. I found a new adderall source for like the first time in years though so my weekend adderall consumption is dramatically up.

I'm mostly a social drinker and I rarely drink when I'm alone

I have some beers at home, but they're reserved for a meeting with friends that was scheduled before the lockdown, and I'm not much of a beer drinker TBH

The harder drinks are in my parent's apartment, which is only 5 blocks away but I haven't yet brought them here as it's not particularly comfortable to carry glass bottles on a backpack and I don't want to be caught by the police 9r anyone else doing so

I've only had a couple of beer cans, a can of rosé sparkling wine and some sh**t caipirinha with  yellow lemons and an excessive amount of vodka at my parents' place

it's gone up - for a while I was drinking a glass or two of wine everyday before I cut down for calorie reasons more than anything else - but I've stopped binge drinking as much as I once did for obvious reasons. Less fun to get completely wasted in a Zoom call lol.
