Since this is a political Forum, if I had to guess:

Owners of European-manufactured cars lean left, American-manufactured cars lean right, and Asian-manufactured cars are close to average.

European cars are expensive, so I bet owners of them were a Romney voting demo.

I don't think I've ever driven a Japanese car come to think of it unless one I borrowed from a friend in college or one got as a loaner car from an autoshop was one.

All my previous cars were American, I have a Hyundai now.

I don't recall ever renting one, I think I've only rented American and Kia (so also Korean.)

However that current Hyundai has a flashing check engine light. I don't really need a car now so I'm not in a hurry to get it fixed but until I do I'll probably drive my mom's if I have to...a Subaru, so Japanese.

A flashing engine light is usually a sign that the car is misfiring, which is worse than if it’s just a non-flashing engine light. The latter is usually some smog control that you can easily ignore.

Yes which is why I'm not driving it until I bring it in to be fixed.

I do not have a car, as mine officially died in March, and my girlfriend and I are just driving hers until it drops, too.  Before that, I had a German car (2009 Audi A4).  I miss it every day. Sad  (I especially miss it because I got it 4 years used, in 2013, for just $18,000 due to some wacky California trade-in law.)
That must be a crappy model if it died that soon. Definitely not worth five figures.
