No, because unless they have plans to run for office where they live, it's not particularly relevant.  This is really only something that Talk Elections bloggers would be concerned with.

I'd feel sorry for a lesbian living in rural Alabama or a conservative Catholic family with eight kids living in some obscenely expensive coastal metro, yes. (And I've known people who fit both of those descriptions.) I wouldn't feel sorry for somebody without any particular subcultural affinities who just happened to live in an otherwise nice area where most people didn't share their politics, though, no.

That's me on the large [except for right now until school resumes, and if I can get myself into Austin], so no, I don't need your pity anyway.

I don't really feel bad for fellow Republicans who get to live in big, dynamic urban centers, no.

No, I mostly just think that they're smarter than everyone else. Then again I'm probably biased.

It's not a problem in Poland, since we have a popular presidential vote and proportional representation for Sejm.

Not really for purely political reasons, but, if political differences really come from not fitting in with an area culturally or not being able to find people with similar values/morals, than somewhat.

You would consider Rancho Cucamonga a great food city, I'm certain.

Tom Sietsema doesn't even get his takes on DC area restaurants right.

And putting NYC so low and SF over LA should tell you this article is only here for the HOT TAKES.

That's a false choice. Joining the majority does not equate to blind capitulation.

No--- why would I....  although I live in what would be considered in Western Oregon a pretty overwhelmingly "2016 Trump County", I don't feel sorry for myself, let alone Oregon Republican and Republican leaning posters that live up in "The City" (Portland Metro)....

Although I don't consider myself a Democrat, naturally there are a wide diversity of opinions across the political spectrum, and quite frankly would just as soon take a decent mixture of individual characters who are 3 Dimensional vs the "New to the Party" Suburban and Exurban wealthy folks, who think the Democratic Party is all about "Social Issues", while neglecting the real economic issues that we have been dealing with for decades in Downstate Oregon, directly caused by decades of Neo-Liberal Economic Theory promoted by many leading Republicans & Democrats alike....

The Crystal Meth Epidemic in rural and Downstate Oregon, was a direct result of systematic corporate business policies which shipped decent paying jobs overseas, combined with the collapse of the Timber Sector in many parts of rural / Downstate Oregon, which although we all knew it was coming and not the fault of Environmental Policies, still created a massive destruction of many tight-knit communities and ripple effects downfield.

The "War on Drugs" exacerbated what was effectively a Medical Crisis, where even addicts who sought treatment had nowhere to go.... instead the revolving door of petty crime, traffic violations, etc... while the caravans of bicyclists with backpacks moved stuff around to the 70% of Meth users who were working jobs at the Factories and Plants....

Places like Sweet Home, Oregon and parts of Douglas County, Wolf Creek stands out, are honestly places where me and my wife feel more comfortable walking into a bar, then some of those Yuppie "Wine Bar" joins in NW 21st and NW 23rd St in West Portland, despite the much higher levels of unemployment and social deprivations....

It's not always about politics, not that we haven't lived in large Metro Areas over the past 45-60 Yrs, which are increasingly becoming "Democratic"....
