Saw a request for this in another thread and was curious. This thread can serve as a census for the training, experience, background, aspirations, etc. of board users.

If you are trained in multiple fields/areas of study, list them all.
If you have had several long-term jobs, list those, but only those that relate to your career. E.g., don't list if you worked in a restaurant as a high school job.
If you do not have any secondary/advanced training (e.g., still in high school) list your aspirations.

I picked the poll options from this extensive list of college majors/concentrations, modifying a couple of them to include cases which will not necessarily require college education or formal training. I added the extra option for political fields because I imagine that area will be over-represented on this board. If you are unsure about your own classification you can visit the above link and find more specific sub-disciplines within each of the above categories.

n.b. Business/Business Administration/Finance/Marketing/related, Physical Sciences, Precision Production/Manufacturing and Psychology are at the bottom because I accidentally left them off the list the first time.

Nearly the entirety of my professional training is in multiple STEM fields.

edit: more detail (self-indulgent, not worthy of a new post). I am trained as a mathematician but mostly work as a statistician in data analysis, simulation, and statistical computing. I also have some biology education so I put that too. Some of my work has been published in biology journals but I've also contributed to analyses and projects in agriculture, sociology, statistics, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering (who knows if these got published or how they got used; if they did I'm only listed in acknowledgements if even that). I put Computer, Math, and Biology as my answers.

Aviation, finance/business (not an option?... surely an oversight), math. Both academic and professional training. Technology was part of finance.

You are right. It was on my list but I accidentally left it off because I had to enter poll options one at a time. Fixed it although now options are not alphabetically listed (had to add poll options to the bottom). Marketing would also fall under this umbrella.

edit: also left out physical sciences which is hugely embarrassing considering my work 🤦‍♂️

I selected the computer one, as it's what I do

the construction one, but I was never trained in a class room and it's been a long time since I did it professionally, but I've done a small amount of work on my home since being a pro

and the military one, but I was in the USAF, and that's barely the military

My undergraduate studies were in Sociology (major) and Cultural Anthropology (minor). Since I wasn't able to figure out what I wanted to do in terms of a career until recently, I am returning to school this year to earn a graduate degree in Accounting with an Audit specialization.

Business and Finance and Social Sciences. I have two Bachelor's degrees, one in Finance and one in Economics, and my professional experience is entirely in accounting and insurance/finance.

Finance/Business.  My previous experience was in commercial banking, and post-MBA I’d like to be more involved in the internal aspects of finance within an organization (i.e., corporate finance).

Options 10, 12, 13, 26, and 29--foreign-language BA, master's degree in theology with a philosophical/comparative rather than confessional focus, professional certification as an ESL teacher. My professional experience so far is all bleeding-heart nonprofit stuff of various kinds, plus some public education.

Degree in History/Politics.

Public service career in restorative justice (mainly in assisting the public fiscal response to child victims of physical abuse and adult victims of sexual and institutional abuse) for ten years.

Then a promotion to working for the tax office dealing with evasion. Which is less intensive!

From engineering and math to law is uh, a very interesting career path to say the least

It's very common for things like IP law where a science and/or engineering background is extremely useful. That is, provided you at least worked as an engineer for a bit.

I got a community college level education that has not remotely helped me in my career. I manage my dad’s property while he works on his antique Mack and Peterbilt trucks. My job is to collect rent, keep the yard clean, and tell Jean to move his latest garbage out of the access road’s way before the Cubans up front come rolling in and start yelling.
