to correct a wrong

Section I (Title)
i. The title of this act shall be, the "Save our Sonics Resolution".

Section II (Provisions)
i. This body hereby recognizes that the 2008 move of the National Basketball Association (NBA) team known as the "Seattle Supersonics" to Oklahoma City was a terrible error, and that Seattle, as a premier population and economic center in the Commonwealth of Frémont and Atlasia as a whole, is deserving of an NBA franchise.
ii. This body hereby calls upon NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to grant the city of Seattle an expansion franchise by the 2022-2023 NBA season, and offers to negotiate a settlement between the NBA and the City of Seattle as to potential accomodations for this new team.
Sponsor: Oregon Blue Dog (Meadowlark-Labor, Oregon)

Well, it's the end of the session, guys, so here's a somewhat fluffy (yet also significant) proposal to close the 15th Parliament. The purpose of this resolution is to encourage the NBA to return a basketball franchise to Seattle - which would be an economic boon for the City of Seattle, allowing numerous new employment opportunities brought upon by a professional sports franchise. It'd also bring great joy to Seattle SuperSonics fans, who were dismayed by the team's 2008 relocation to Oklahoma City. As we've seen with the Houston Astros resolution in Congress, this bill will not have binding effect, but with many pundits noting the benefits of expansion in rebooting the NBA, it certainly won't hurt for this body to back restoring a beloved Fremont basketball franchise.

Also, as it's delayed until 2022-2023, it gives both Seattle and the NBA time to recover from the COVID-19 crisis and negotiate an amicable settlement.

Yield for questions.

First they steal our land, then they steal our team —does the appetite of Southern imperialism have no bottom?

To wrap this up as quickly as possible, I motion to suspend the rules and immediately vote on this bill.

24 hours to object, unless someone seconds the motion to vote I submitted yesterday.

Vote opened. 48 hours. I'm guessing this occurs under the new Parli so Koopa and Ishan, you're free not to vote.

Anyway, Aye.
