Shemia Fagan is on track to become the next Secretary of State of Oregon. She’s quite young and has a bright future ahead of her. What do you think is in store for her if she wins?

Could possibly run to succeed Wyden in 2022 or 2028. She's young, so she has the potential to run for higher office for a while yet.

Not sure. Wyden is definitely in the senate through 2028 and Kotek is on the inside track to become the next governor, so probably nothing in the next few years. Maybe Blumenauer retires in 2022?

She previously represented House District 51, so could also go for Schrader's seat.

Well, she'd lose that primary.

I meant after his retirement. She wouldn't be the favourite challenging either of those two.

She seems like a rare Brad Avakian type who could run so far to the left that they lose to the right Republican in a higher race.

Yes, if she is bound to lose to a Republican eventually, I’d rather it be for Secretary of State than for Governor or Senate

Avakian lost because he ran a lazy and terrible campaign, not because he was too far left for Oregon of all states.
