The whole "it's all about the oil" thing doesn't make sense when you consider that the ongoing civil war makes any meaningful oil production impossible, and our support of the Syrian opposition and the Kurds has prolonged the war.

If the US were really "all about the oil" we would have just told Assad we'd give him enough weapons to crush the rebels in exchange for oil concessions.
