I try to be patient with conservative Christian colleges because I do think it's reasonable for religious subcultures to want their own institutions even if they're religious subcultures for which I don't have a ton of sympathy, but BJU is several bridges too far. HC.

BJU isn’t just any conservative Christian college. I don’t pay attention to the others very much. That one stands out to me as not just something I disagree with, but one that is a notable outlier.

It's a pretty legalistic place.  I wouldn't go there, and I wouldn't encourage my youngest son to go there.

Bob Jones University is one of the largest providers of Christian Homeschool curriculum, and I'll give them an FC on that basis.  But, yes, they are outliers.

Yet somehow, if I prevent my child from receiving an education, and instead tell him from an early age that an invisible man who can read his mind will torture him for all eternity if he touches his wee-wee, but I do it outside of the confines of organized religion, I'm somehow a "paranoid schizophrenic."

When you graduate college, leave the land of Indoctrinated Golden Leftist Bears (I do give you props for swimming against the tides), get married, have kids, and become responsible for their safety, you'll understand my views on homeschool, because you won't have the luxury of seeing public schools as anything but a dangerous environment for most children.

If you genuinely believe that your local school district can't provide your kids with a drug-free, nonviolent learning environment, and you're comfortable with teaching them advanced calculus, by all means feel free to homeschool your kids. I just don't believe for a second that this is the rationale behind "Christian homeschooling."

As someone who considers education important, I’ve had the misfortune of feeling the need to get several of their textbooks. There are other inexpensive options that aren’t radical, propagandist machines. One of their textbooks literally says it’s impossible to believe in carbon dating and the Bible.

Honestly Fuzzy Bear's posts on this thread if anything prove to me that home schooling should outright be made illegal in almost all circumstances; with all kids having to go to school.
