I'm certainly not looking forward to the GOP returning to Romneyism and Bushism.  The GOP deserves to implode if it reverts down that path.


There are two options as I see things- run candidates who have establishment sensibilities (like Rubio or Haley) but tweak the national platform to be more populist and pro-worker-things like medicare for some, college debt reform, anti-monopoly, tough on China etc...  This is the path of least resistance.  Of course the beltway losers will take about a decade too long to get the message and miss their window.

The other choice is run full fledged nationalists/populists and figure out how to sell that beyond the trump base and partisan republicans (which is only 42% of the country).  That will be a tall order.
