As for SLab potential good leaders, I've liked Paul Sweeney for a while.

I know the sins of the father shouldn't count, but has Anas ever discussed Senior's interesting overseas career?

What are the auspices for Sir Keir if Labour loses in Hartlepool?

Bad, but not fatal: think how Copeland and Stoke Central were awful blows to Corbyn at the time, but he muscled through to the 2017 election where he could win his own mandate.

The purpose of Canvassing is the same reason retirement homes sometimes have visits from local schools: it's useful for people in the midst of a very distressing mental state (old age, being interested in politics) to be given a chance to remember how to speak to people.

None of those names surprise, a minor curiosity that they are all female though.
I seem to remember polling from years ago that found women were more likely to support abortion restrictions than men (we are not America!), though the politicians did not seem to reflect this.

Women tend to feel more strongly on the issue. Male politicians are far more likely to view abortion as an irrelevant social issue and will go with path of least resistance (i e. Voting with your party line), but the issue for obvious reasons is more visceral with women. Shirley Williams is another obvious example, as was Ruth Kelly.

That said, there were a small clique of old Catholic  male Labourites  who been gradually dying off these past few years (Dobbin, Goggins, Des Browne).

It's especially weird because Corbyn didn't even do that well with the ethnic minority vote, .

I'm a bit sceptical of when people defend Reeves with the excuse "well, she's the financial whizz, no-one else can do what she does". Sure, I know Starmer thinks economics is either quantum mechanics or astrology, but are they really trying to say no-one else in the PLP stayed awake for the "E" section of their PPE courses? Heck, Dodds is plenty intelligent and capable. Not to mention this line is basically how Roger Douglas caused so much damage.

Or for that matter, how Balls was foisted on Miliband despite not being popular (when he was an active politician) and clearly causing a huge personality conflict.

The issue I have is the clear fake excuse (she's the only one that knows how to turn on the calculator!) for what is clearly an ideological position.

I was always confused why Cruddas's career flatlined after 2010 despite seemingly trying to be the voice of post NuLabourism during Brown's career - he had some kind of strategic advice job during the Miliband years and made no real intervention during the Corbyn years (pro or con). Did he just suddenly lose his ambitions or did he annoy people?

I don't think most people will even notice.

Though you have to ask why somebody with no real previous did something so silly.

Would probably be hilariously terrible in practice, but sometimes i wonder the viability of implementing the equivalent of closed primaries.

Yeah the wisest action would be to get someone like Sam Tarry to stand.

Talking of people who have been radicalized recently, Diane Abbott has sent, um, quite the letter to the Guardian where she says Jews and Travellers are not victims of racism, and compares discrimination against them to anti redhead bullying.

My duffield conspiracy theory is there is a hint of self preservation: she got some very bad press for lockdown breaking in a manner closer to the Bojo end of the spectrum, but she has saved her position by taking a side in the Debate that Online Journalists love.

I think OJ is just too online (as are his haters fwiw: the way some people talk you'd think he was the evil puppet master behind Corbyn)

Well an actual list of the 37 might help there......

This was my subtle (hah) way of asking whether anyone had one haha.

Don't have a list but Jeff Rooker is still alive.

Question is: which prime minister would it be most shocking if it was revealed they had an affair? We know Truss, Boris, Blair, Major, Wilson, Eden, Churchill, Asquith and Lloyd George all at least have rumours of it. Macmillan stayed faithful but his wife had an affair.

Googling it seems like Ramsay MacDonald also cheated.
