Could the Senate please vote on the following act:

All homosexual couples will be granted the right to join in a civil union, entailing all the rights of marriage excluding adoption rights.

Vote either aye, noe or you can abstain.

I encourage my district 2 Senators to vote "aye" on this act, or you just lost a vote Wink

I am considering proposing an amendment that removes the adoption clause.

I am considering proposing an amendment that removes the adoption clause.

I am unsure if it would pass with that, that is why I included the clause, I want this to be a stepping stone towards equality.

To Thurmond and Steve:

We need to rally Harry against this.

I officially propose and amendment to change the bill to state:
All homosexual couples will be granted the right to join in a civil union, entailing all the rights of marriage.

With the amendment, I vote yes.
I'll hold off for now on voting without the amendment.

I am in favor of the amendment. I encourage the Senate to pass the amendment to the bill, which I will then sign in its entirety.

With amendment: Aye
Without the amendment: Nay

Whilst I believe that a male and fmelae are needed to develope a fully rounded child, I also believe it is better for a child to at least have a family then none at all, and therefore support the right of all mentally sound and caring people to adopt.

Some would argue that  homosexuals aren't mentally sound, but I can assure you, we are.

Aye on the amendment.

Like Sen. Texasgurl I will wait until the amendment has either failed or passed to vote on the bill itself.

Needs a two thirds majority doesn't it? That is 7 votes.

No, it's not a constitutional amendment, just an amendment to a bill.

No, I mean the actual bill itself.
