He won't have FPTP on his side this time. Even in a Biden midterm I see this staying blue.

Will he move back to Maine or will he campaign from the front porch of his Florida house?

I'm pretty sure that RCV isn't in play here. If there are a lot of left-leaning independents on the ballot, LePage probably wins, particularly with Maine's rightward trend.

This guy sucks.

Is Paul LePage even allowed to run again?

He can't serve more than two consecutive terms, so he is eligible to run again.

Likely D, RCV makes it much harder for LePage to run, and Mills isn't that unpopular

Didn't a state Supreme Court ruling overturn the use of RCV for state races, but it remains intact for federal races? Or am I completely misremembering.

it is. Wouldve been used in 2018 but mills got over 50%.
It’s only in play for gubernatorial primaries.

Does RCV apply to gubernatorial elections in Maine?  I know there was a change this year, but I thought it only expanded it to the presidential election.

Absent a constitutional amendment, not for the general (only for the primaries).

Did LePage get in because Maine still has plurality voting?

Yes, he won with less than 38% of the votes when the libbers split the vote between an Independent and a Dem to total 55%. Then in 2014 he was reelected with 48% while the Dem and the Indy collected a majority again.

Did he decide to run in 2022 because plurality voting is still used?

I can't speak to this irrational actor's motivations (and his announcement didn't seem particularly serious or well thought out), but FPTP almost certainly is the biggest thing in his favor should he actually follow through on his threat to run.

Could SCOME overrule it’s previous decision and implement RCV. The only FPTP elections where I live are presidential and city.
