With Biden leading and Cooper dominating, I see no reason why this shouldn't be tilt to lean D.

If this race is won by the dems it will be on Cooper's coattails not Biden's.

that being said I don't think it should be called lean D just yet.

Tossup/Tilt D this far out given Cooper's strength.

No matter who wins the Lieutenant Governorship in November, NC will have their first African American Lieutenant Governor on January 2, 2021.

Lean D, the Republican candidate is a literal nonentity and Cooper, Biden, and Cunningham are all probably favorites here, so there should be some coattails in this race.

Both are weak candidates; with that in mind it likely defaults to the gubernatorial results.

it didn't in 2016. That being said I think the LG dem trails Cooper by less than 2-3 points

This

I think as long as Cooper wins relatively comfortably (basically as long as it isn't a very close race), the Democratic LG nominee wins too.

Though Forest was an incumbent in 2016. Honestly, I wonder what most Cooper-Forest voters were like and what their thought process was.

I agree and with what polling is looking like Cooper will do that

Forrest was an incumbent with an amusing campaign slogan, while Coleman was an also-ran who is not a great campaigner.
