I will sponsor this bill. I'm open to amending this as currently written if that's what's needed to pass this bill.

I'll move for a final vote if there aren't other concerns.

I'll withdraw my motion for a final vote and present this amendment to the bill.

HOUSE BILL

To end the federal government's support for affirmative action policies in admissions.

Quote
I. Any Publicly funded college or university in Atlasia which receives funding from the federal government is hereby banned from using race, or gender as a factor in admissions in any formafter 2030.

II. Any college or university that does not comply with section I of this Act shall have federal funding withdrawn after two years of non-compliance.

II: A publicly funded university shall be defined as one where at least 20% of funding for the university comes from the government.

III. Private Universities shall not be affected by this law.

IVIII. The budget of the Department of Education shall be increased by $10 billion per year after 2030.
 a. This money shall be distributed to schools.
 i. The Department of Education shall be tasked with calculating a formula which prioritizes schools with large class sizes, low funding per student and low achievement.

IV. The spending in Section IV shall be funded from the Department of Education's general budget.
House of Representatives
Passed the House of Representatives 5-2-0-2

Atlasian Regional Senate

What happens if a college sees this requirement as bogus and does it anyways?
I hope my amendment addresses that concern as it adds real teeth to the policy while also making this more friendly to concerns of regional rights in making education policy. I also cleaned up the formatting of this bill.

Nay

That moment when you are a better Federalist than at least one of the 2 Fed Senators Tongue

Anyways I fullu support getting rid of affirmative action but I think this bill intrudes into the competences and powers of the regions. This should be a regional bill like the one the South (probably) has or the famous one Lincoln had and then repealed
This actually devolves power to the regions as regions who want to maintain affirmative action can simply add more funding to their universities.
