If you want to join in with the protesters, just make sure to work on your sign calligraphy first:

That G means something in the US?

I was being sarcastic. The signs are written in an identical style that differs noticeably from the block printing most people in the US when creating hand-made signs or posters. The women in the picture are attempting to convey the impression that they are part of an authentic, self-organized, "grass-roots" movement. That their signs were created by some third party and then given to them is one small indicator among several that these "protests" are being deliberately funded and organized, and do not accurately represent the sentiment of the public.

Gladys Kravitz is a similar type of neighbor. You know ...

"Abner! Abner! The neighbors are standing with 6 feet of each other in their own backyard!"

The Canadian Government could issue these to Canadians to remember their duties.

Look, all I know is that I'm running out of movies to watch -- just had to go deep into the bargain bin with Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.  MAJOR problem here, folks.

I could - y'know - study, but where's the fun in that?

I've had similar problems, in terms of keeping myself disciplined enough to get homework done, while being distracted by other things. Especially since I have several papers to write, one of which is due in ten days. Online learning definitely does require one to keep themselves in check, even though I've had online classes before.

Finally, the protesters in Michigan are a minority.

Total US casualties have now crossed the 40,000 mark, per NBC. At this point, it's not hard to imagine COVID-19 surpassing Vietnam in terms of American deaths within just another week or two.

Even Washington isn’t free of this idiocy. I will say, though, it’s always priceless when someone uses the word “idiot” and then proceeds to misspell something.

I'm curious, given the history of adversarial governments using social media to organize protests in 2016, if there might be a third-party actor involved in these pro-COVID demonstrations that we're not seeing.

It is an open secret that the DeVos family organized the Michigan protests.

anyone else wanting to go out and join one of these protests against the quarantine? heard there was one in Nashville today, should have gone but I was tied up in Knox :<

obvious troll is trolling. reported.
He isn’t a troll, he just is greatly uninformed as to the severity of the crisis.

I mean, I'm greatly informed as to the severity that this crises poses to young people who are just starting out their careers. My wife and I are lucky that we are "essential employees" but I worry about all the other people our age just starting out and what this hysteria has done to the economy.

I'm honestly not worried about the elderly and immunocompromised. They can quarantine of their own accord, if they wish, but at least where I live, it seems like the older people are the least likely to do so, so I mean that's on them.

Like I said, if I die I die lol it's fine not like I care.

Husband of the year.

Seriously though, if your will to live is that weak, you really should seek professional help immediately for barely sublimated deep depression. Take care please.

What other perspective on death is there?  Being accepting of one's own mortality is a sign of self-actualization, not depression.  Why would the dead care what happens to them?  It's the alive who mourn.

Wolf is killing it. He extended it to May 8th but these are the key points:

Governor Tom Wolf said on Monday that a statewide stay at home order will remain in effect until at least May 8, but some restrictions are starting to be eased.
Wolf also said more businesses and regions could be allowed to reopen then, but he said standards for reopening the state will be guided by a data-driven and regional approach.
The curbside pickup for liquor stores will allow officials to observe how limiting person-to-person contact can lead to curbside pickup for other industries, the governor said.
He pointed out that there is no vaccine, no cure, and no antibody test so most restrictions and the stay at home order cannot be relaxed.

So basically, May 8 is a good date, and then we re-evaluate where we are, and they're going to see how things go with the curbside pickup to adapt to other industries. But again, he also aded that there is no vaccine, no cure, no antibody test available in PA right now, so we can't go crazy reopening. Guided by the data. What a concept.

I was about to say the exact same thing.

Lockdowns must end, and will end. But these "protests" just bog down the process.

Also a lot of far right gun nut groups are helping to fund and organize them. Republicans don't do anything grass roots, they have to be told to do it and pay people to organize these things.

Also, why did these "protests" wait until a lot of these states were about to reopen anyway?

I don't find an English language article yet, but a German study from Leipzig University found that air pollution and severe covid-19 cases are likely connected. According to the study, it's not a final proof and needs more research, but a strong indicator. They looked at pollution levels and death rates and found some connection. Especially with regard to Northern Italy.

New York dropped by a huge amount. New Jersey dropped some. Indiana and Virginia dropped quite a bit. Ohio dropped some. Some smaller states gained, but usually not by much.
