He could win if he runs against Tony Cardenas in CA-29.

The answer, of course, is "possibly".  Possibly, I could get elected to a city council seat in a small city where I live, and then run for Congress.  (Although I certainly believe De Leon's chances are better than mine, lol.)

Christine Quinn had a future at the state or Federal level in 2013.  Then she lost to DeBlasio in a race she should have won.  She further compounded her defeat by becoming a Hillary shill in 2016 on CNN.

A lot can happen before 2022.  There may be some hotshot out there now who'll have enough money to take L. A. by storm that no one sees coming.

He was originally going to run for lt. governor in 2018. Had he not dropped out, he would have won Santa Ana, Hacienda Heights, CA-34, CA-40, and SD-24 against Kounalakis.

I remember being confused about why de Leon went for the Senate race instead of Lt Gov. At the time, I thought de Leon would have had a much better shot at winning the Lt Governor's office. If he had won that election, he could've been a top contender for Governor in 2026.

He would have won Santa Ana, Hacienda Heights, CA-34, CA-40, and SD-24 had he run for lt. governor. He was delusional for running against an entrenched incumbent. He failed to get 15% in the primary, the worst of any 2018 statewide primary winner. His ambition got the best of him. He won the North Coast and an urban San Diego district while losing every urban LA district and every OC district.
