I made color-swapped maps for 1992 through 2016

If you like these, I'll make ones for earlier elections

Light blue or red indicates a win by 0 to 4.99%
Medium blue or red indicates a win by bewteen 5 and 9.99%
Darker blue or red indicates a win by between 10 and 19.99%
Darkest blue or red indicates a win by over 20%

Businessman Ross Perot (I-TX) / Vice Admiral James Stockdale (I-CA) 18.91%

Dr. Jill Stein (G-MA) / Activist Ajamu Baraka (G-IL) 1.06%

Here's a preliminary map - what I believe the 2020 Election map may look like

2020

I'm expecting Biden to defeat Trump 289 to 249 in the Electoral College and with 49% to 50% of the popular vote - but it's still over six months away, anything can happen

I'll post a few more of 'em soon - I'll do 1976 to 1988, then 1960 to 1972 later

Don't know when I'll finish - I'm just gonna drink beer and work on maps

Step 1 - 1976 to 1988
Step 2 - 1960 to 1972
Step 3 - 1948 to 1956
Step 4 - 1932 to 1944
Step 5 - 1912 to 1928
Step 6 - 1896 to 1908
Step 7 - 1876 to 1892
Step 8 - 1856 to 1872

One scenario that comes to mind - Trump is re-elected, Ds sweep in and win in 2024. Then the D incumbent is popular and barely crosses the 400 EV mark in 2028 on route to a 54%-46% PV win.

I think the reason why the normal color palate feels wrong is because we're using the Atlas' electoral map maker, and when we see maps that were made using this tool, we expect them to have Democratic red and Republican blue. Hence why they don't feel wrong when looking at mainstream maps used elsewhere, like ones from news outlets.

Yeah probably. I mean I don't mind in other sites like 270 or Wikipedia but mainly on atlas
