It is becoming abundantly clear that even if the GOP loses badly in November, they will improve with black voters by at least 3-5%.

Black voters aren't going to be 90% Dem forever. Between the first step act and the GOP's move away from Randian economics, black voters will begin to switch.

Literally zero evidence of the above shifting the margins with AA voters (democrats just did better than Hillary in AA-majority Milwaukee for the Supreme Court Race!) or polling suggesting any movement to Republicans beyond maybe 1-2%. Also, the first step act passed with way more democratic votes than Republican votes. The idea that people will solely credit republicans for that is incredibly dumb.

Vernon Jones always has been a crackpot. He previously supported Bush in 2004 and at times has opposed same-sex marriage and supported concealed carry on college campuses, not to mention the various allegations of impropriety against him during his time as DeKalb County CEO.

First things first. This guy is a crackhead, and does not belong in the Democratic Party. If he was some Dixiecrat from Turner County, I'd understand, but if he's from freaking DeKalb there's no business here. Also, note the rule of white conservative politics. The more blacks in your coalition, the more conservative whites you scare off. Ask LBJ how the Dems lost the South.

I mean, it's fine to endorse Republicans like Charlie Baker or Larry Hogan (I would), but Trump after his disastrous term? Come on, man. The guy needs to be primaried out. Or he pulls a Jeff Van Drew and switches parties.

He needs to be primaried, his conservative views and his endorsement of Trump, together do not belong in the Democratic Party. You can be a conservative Democrat, and still support the party's nominee, or at the very least, not endorse the opposite party's nominee. Honestly, he's a clear DINO and he probably has a better chance of winning as a Republican, than winning renomination, at this point. Also apparently, he was somehow elected as DeKalb County CEO, and he also represents a Safe Democratic seat that doesn't even seem to be culturally conservative, there's no excuse for this, and he needs to be primaries out.

Wait, this is Vernon Jones? How has he got through the past 16 years without being primaried?

No it's not. Judging from the general election polling we've had so far and the fact that in 2018, Black voters voted for Democratic candidates by the consistent 90-10 margin that we've seen for years there's very little evidence that suggests your claim.

This guy sounds a tad unsavory.  And, yes, I can understand why Democrats would want to primary a Democrat who flat-out endorses the GOP Presidential Candidate, whomever that is.

But I wonder if Vernon Jones is more effective on behalf of his constituents than other Democratic state legislators in Georgia, if for no other reason but that he sides with the GOP on at least some key issues.  There is something to be said for that if it's the case.

Doubtful, my understanding is he's always been regarded as a gadfly.

While true, Lee Atwater did say something along the lines of we can't use the N-word anymore so we're gonna use forced bussing, tough on crime etc.

Also my reaction to Jones endorsing Trump
