IOWA

After a whirlwind year-long Democratic primary debate, the first results began to trickle in from precincts across Iowa.

Candidates as of Iowa Caucus Day 2020: Sherrod Brown. Andrew Cuomo. Eric Holder. Jeanne Shaheen. Tim Kaine. Luis Gutierrez. Terry McAuliffe. Tammy Baldwin. Chris Murphy. Mitch Landrieu. Val Demings. Sean Patrick Maloney.

Candidates that dropped out prior to Iowa: Raul Grijalva, Jeff Merkley, Stacey Abrams, Robert Casey, Lawrence Lessig.

The national race boiled down to a fight about change vs. decency. Senators Sherrod Brown and Jeanne Shaheen led the early part of 2019 focusing on results-oriented leadership to defeat Trump. But Senator Tammy Baldwin's embrace of Medicare for All and the Green New Deal earned her the support of progressives in Congress and activist organizations. By the end of 2019, Shaheen was only polling well in her home state, which was considered a phantom primary due to her dominance in the state.

IOWA RESULTS (POPULAR VOTE ON FINAL ALIGNMENT)

Tammy Baldwin 24.0%
Sherrod Brown  21.5%
Eric Holder        14.3%
Andrew Cuomo   11.2%
Jeane Shaheen    6.0%
Tim Kaine            5.5%
Chris Murphy       5.1%
Terry McAuliffe     4.4%
Mitch Landrieu     4.0%
Rest <1%

IOWA RESULTS (FINAL DELEGATE COUNT)

Tammy Baldwin    13
Sherrod Brown     12
Eric Holder           8
Andrew Cuomo     6
Jeane Shaheen      2

As a result of poor showings in Iowa, Val Demings, Sean Patrick Maloney, Chris Murphy, Tim Kaine, and Luis Gutierrez dropped out.

Going to New Hampshire would be Tammy Baldwin, Sherrod Brown, Eric Holder, Andrew Cuomo, Terry McAuliffe, and Mitch Landrieu.

Can Jeanne Shaheen pull of a comeback in NH?

Can Sherrod Brown blunt Tammy Baldwin's momentum?

Can Eric Holder hold on until South Carolina and prove himself to black voters?

Find out shortly Smiley
