Canada is way too damn liberal in handling its francophone minority that's for sure.

Canada is a great place. I've been to all the provinces expect the Atlantic. Among those I especially liked BC, QC, and ON. Tronto, Montreal, Villé de Québec, Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, and Winnepeg are all great cities. And the landscapes are gorgeous. I really like Vancouver Island. Also you’ve got to love the Canadian accent, aye!

Horrible country, horrible politics, but most importantly, horrible people. Just a cesspool all around.

Not exactly the greatest nation on earth, but they aren't a cesspool either. Some of the western and far eastern provinces sound like they'd be cool places in the summer. Now, if it only it weren't for those pesky Quebecois and South-East Ontarians, you guys would rate fairly highly in my book.

I've been telling the ingrate Quebecers for quite a while now not to let the door hit their ass on the way out. Tongue

Indeed, if you asked a room full of people which was the best country on Earth, when you got to Canada, all hands would be down.

Naturally Canada is better than Thailand, but that's not hard to accomplish.

You'd think a damn socialist nation would be able to put some decent lights on their roads. I almost killed myself driving back to Buffalo last night.

but awesome country anyway. A+.

Not really. America is extremely divisive, so whilst many, many people hate it, there are also many people who love it.

Canada is a sort of...'myeh' country. Australia is the same, in international eyes, but less bland. As Opebo said, Canada, as well as Australia, is mediocre (although I personally prefer the term 'middle power'). Ontop of that, Canada has nothing special going for it. It doesn't have any real mystique.

In short, very few people would go, 'Oh! Canada! Fantastic! Best place on Earth!', except Canadians and maybe some Americans, who only choose it because they don't know anything about any other country except Canada and maybe Mexico.

Still, I quite like Canada; It's probably Australia's sixth or seventh closest 'friend' Smiley

Here's the only thing you can say about Canada: Grin

Blame Canada

Times have changed,
Our kids are getting worse
They won't obey their parents,
They just want to fart and curse. Should we blame the government, or blame society, or should we blame the images on TV No!
Blame Canada! Blame Canada

With all their beady little eyes,
their flapping heads so full of lies
Blame Canada!
Blame Canada!
We need to form a full assault, it's Canada's fault! Don't blame me, for my son Stan, He saw the darn cartoon, and now he's off to
join the Klan!> And my boy Eric once, had my picture on his shelf, but now when I see him, he tells me to  myself>

Well, Blame Canada!

It seems that everything's gone wrong since
Canada came along
Blame Canada!
Blame Canada! They're not even a real country anyway. My son could of been a doctor or a lawyer, it's a true, Instead he burned up like a piggie on a barbecue> Should we blame the matches? Should we blame the fire, or the doctor who allowed him to expire. Heck no!
Blame Canada!
Blame Canada!
With all their hockey hubaloo and that bitch Anne Murray too. Blame Canada!
Shame on Canada!

The smut we must stop
The trash we must smash
Laughter and fun
must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming us!

Awesome country that made a big mistake on January 23 or whatever day it was. When The Economist said that Harper can call in election within 2 years and get a Conservative Majority I nearly had a heart attack.

I love that Filibuster Cartoons website that Bono told me about. Especially the beaver that represents Canada.

Now if only Alberta wasn't such a bad place, Canada would be perfect.

Awesome country that made a big mistake on January 23 or whatever day it was. When The Economist said that Harper can call in election within 2 years and get a Conservative Majority I nearly had a heart attack.

The Economist got the first part right.  But a Conservative majority?  Not looking terribly likely.  Governments usually get a bump in the polls at the start purely because people give them the benefit of the doubt.  That hasn't happened at all with this one, as far as I can tell.  I've said this all along: Harper's being prime minister is most likely going to remind Canadians why they don't vote Conservative.  If Harper tries to do anything that is really conservative, he'll be out on his ass faster than you can say "Liberal majority".

So, we basically have two possible outcomes:

1. Harper doesn't govern in a strongly conservative way.  This will result in a larger likelihood of his party staying in power, but it will not result in a strongly conservative government.

2. Harper does govern in a strongly conservative way.  The Liberals, Bloc, and NDP will then no-confidence his ass out of government and he'll probably have lost a lot of support in the process.

Either way, Canada hasn't taken any sort of strong conservative tilt.  Regardless of what American conservatives would like us to be and would like to think we've become through this election, it's just not happening.

I love that Filibuster Cartoons website that Bono told me about. Especially the beaver that represents Canada.

Filibuster Cartoons isn't the only political cartoon that uses the beaver to represent Canada.  Every single Canadian political cartoonist I know of uses the beaver for that, in fact.  I'm not 100% where it came from, but wherever it did, it's essentially now the case that the beaver is to Canada what Uncle Sam is to the United States.

Frankly, I like the beaver more. Smiley

I meant the Government though it still isn't as good as the US's. Grin
