Jean Moulin. The guy himself is a uber-FF and the movie is great.

Better than the other Moulin film they made where it ended with the Germans arresting him.

Paris brule-t'il? Old movie. But good stuff.

I especially like the part where the FFIs come to take over Matignon and the commanding officer (French collabo) there stands up and does a German salute. The FFIs tell him in the name of the GPRF that they're taking over the palace, and the officer promptly says "I was always loyal to the Republic. Long live the Republic".

Retarded Christmas movie. I was awfully bored. We watched OSS 117 in French, but that's a good movie.

That's a great movie.

Just saw La Cage aux Folles, old French movie. Basically a gay couple that owns a nightclub with drag entertainment and the owner's son falls in love with a girl whose parents are Jean Royer-type ultra-conservative Catholics. The parents meet each other, and so forth.

La Cage aux Folles 2 and La Cage aux Folles 3. Not as good as the original, but still hilarious stuff and miles better than most of today's sh**t. Charlier is great, and Albin/Zaza is absolutely hilarious.

Nicholas and Alexandra. An old movie, but I had never seen it. I enjoyed it. But I enjoy all Russian stuff.

Barbarian Invasions. Quebecois movie. A parody of Quebec's healthcare system and Quebecois trade unions (or should I say mafia).

Catch and Release.

Also saw the latest OSS117 (Rio ne repond plus). It's a French movie which mocks James Bond, French stereotypes, and secret agents. The 'hero' in question is a French secret agent who's a macho, a dumbass/clumsy fool, and almost an anti-semite and racist.

Michael Collins

I also saw two movies on Saturday evening. One typical French movie (dramatic comedy with no real ending) and Brassed Off.

The King's Speech: simply excellent
Black Swan: crap, stupid and insane
Red: Slightly amusing but overblown typical American action movie
Somewhere: ... what to say... the worst movie I've ever seen? An awful and stupid movie which is badly edited and totally devoid of any kind of conflict or real plot. It seems like they filmed a bunch of random things in the life of a boring loser and forgot to put them together or edit them properly. Awful. Awful.

I've been watching the third season of Un village francais recently, because it's like my favourite TV series and because all other current movies are largely useless.

George Wallace, the 1997 tv-movie. It's a very, very good movie and definitely one of my favourite movies now.
