The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Once Upon a Time in the West is the best Leone film, but TGTBTU is brilliant in its own right.

I need to buy the Blue Underground disc of Django... yes, I'm addicted to spaghetti Westerns at the moment. Smiley

Evil Dead Trap

Interesting, but unevenly paced.

Videodrome

I watched it at 2 in the morning, and... what a mindfuck it was. Long live the new flesh!

oh, and the Criterion Collection DVD (which I happen to own Wink) is superb. Incredible packaging, great transfer, and a mountain of extras. Criterions don't come cheap, but they're worth it.

Actually, no... I never got around to seeing that. I've seen most of his films, and all of them are excellent (especially The Fly). I should check out AHoV to see how it compares to the greats.

300. Fairly Boring aside from the visuals, which were amazing obviously - and is it just me or aren't all of Frank Miller's films at their root core just very god damn conservative?

300, achieves what many had thought impossible: making a case for Bush’s war in Iraq so clear, distinct, and fanatical that I half expected an Army recruiting station to be erected at the theater’s exits. It’s the cinematic equivalent of a battleground orgasm; a homoerotic parade of tight abs, facial hair, oiled chests, leather, steel, gritting teeth, and phallic weaponry so overpowering that it’s just about the best movie ever made with jingoistic intent.

Running Scared. My God... this movie is insane. Ultraviolent, hyperstylized, full of memorably sleazy characters, and it has some great plot twists. The highlight involves a wealthy couple with some unusual predilections- it doesn't directly show their crimes, but what the movie hints is nauseating. Honestly, that scene is the most horrifying thing I can remember seeing on film.

This flick didn't get much attention when it came out last year, but it's the kind of movie that attains cult status over the years- it's that good. It beats The Departed (a very fine film in its own right) as crime movie of the year, imo. Seriously, do yourself a favor and watch it. You may not like it as much as I did, but give it a chance.

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover.

I've always wanted to see that.

Watched Requiem for a Dream while drunk last night. It certainly added a few layers to the experience

Watched The Alps last Friday at OMSI. Amazing, but that's to be expected with IMAX; I suspect it would only be mildly entertaining at home or even in a standard theatre.

Death Proof.

I loved it, actually. I can see how cutting it by 23 minutes, almost all of that dialogue, might have completely ruined it, though.

I'm one of the few who enjoyed it more than Planet Terror. Watching that final chase in a theatre packed with cheering people is a rush... although I think you're missing out when the double-feature gimmick is dropped, along with the hilarious faux-trailers and advertisements.

Really? Review-wise Death Proof was much ore favourably recieved here in Sweden.

Yeah, DP was widely panned in the US- by critics and fans alike- for being too "talky." Could indicate an interesting cultural difference. Smiley Still, the crowd I saw it with loved it, so who knows.

You want an entertaining slasher fic (with very little slashing) I'd recommend Cry_Wolf.

... try The Burning or Friday the 13th- the Final Chapter.

I actually watched Dagon again last night, this time in Thai.  Love that film!

Is this the Lovecraftian Dagon about monster-worshipping fishermen?
