Until 2015 it was Houston, but they lengthened terms to four years. Now it is San Antonio, the 7th largest city in the country.

Makes sense, not least considering the weak mayor structure.

In Orange County, CA: Santa Ana, Irvine, and Garden Grove have two-year mayoral terms. Turnout is high there, in both presidential and midterm years.

Two years is insanely short. In my state, mayors are elected for eight years (which is too long).

In my home state (Saarland), it's ten years (actually the longest mayoral terms in whole Germany as far as I know).

Actually though eight in BW and Bavaria is the longest. I know that some states have six year terms.

In the 2018 Garden Grove mayoral election, turnout was high, as it generally is because it's consolidated with the presidential and gubernatorial. Garden Grove uses nonpartisan plurality voting (only 1 round, no runoffs) Incumbent Steve Jones won with 84%.

Results by precinct.
Steve Jones: (R), no votes
