I really hope you used that to gain points in a relationship?

I'd disrespect him even if he did get laid as a result of seeing that movie.

LOL.  Real men see that movie.  It was done very well.  Meryl Streep is a very good actress.  Anne Hathaway was whiny, buit besides that I'd recommend it.  No, I did not score points in my relationship since it was with a friend.  I definitely didn't get laid.

Yeah, real gay men. Tongue

Lady in the Water, they actually made some pretty funny moments in the movie so that was another good part of it.

Miami Vice

Absolutely horrible movie. The plot was slow and boring, Colin Farrell could turn Gone With the Wind into a piece of sh**t with his acting skills, and for an action movie there was only any sort of action in the last 15 minutes of a two and a half hour movie. Possibly one of the worst films I've seen this year.

Dead Man's Chest.
Part one was way better, but of course that's too be expected in a quickly-made unplanned sequel.

It's been nearly four years since the first one and the end of that one left it open for a sequel. I wouldn't say that's quick or unplanned.

Me too.  Absolutely hilarious.

I also Scoop-it was alright, Woody Allen was funny but it had a very predictable ending.

That was the last one I saw aswell. It was funny but it had some REALLY "gay" moments and tried too hard to get a message across, but that seems to be what the recent Kevin Smith movies do.

I think the sequel wasn't *planned* ahead, though. Anyways they took longer filming than they hoped to, which accounts for the four years. I don't think they took as long with the script or gave as much attention to it as they did with part 1. In fact, I'm sure of it.

Like I said, I thought it was a very good movie.  Definitely had a different flair to it (much darker/serious . . . relatively speaking), but still had the same elements which made the first one enjoyable.  Making it a part I of II, with the second movie being shot at the same time, you are naturally left with a "half the story" feeling, but I think they did a good job of making a whole picture out of Part I.

Lady in the Water. (today)
My wife liked it but I didn't. Shyamalan is kind of a nut sometimes.

Evita

Say what you will about musicals but Evita is a masterpiece in my mind. Brought to screen in 1996 by Alan Parker, Evita features a sweeping score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics that are clever, witty and heartfelt all at the same time by Tim Rice.

Evita leaves it up to you; it shows you the view of the skeptical common man through the cynical and sarcastic everyman Che (Played by Anthonio Banderas) while showing you the personal ordeals of  Eva and Juan Peron (Played by Madonna and Jonathan Pryce, respectively).

Madonna, surprisingly, gives a great performance and really does resemble Eva. Banderas' acting is pretty good but his voice leaves a bit to be desired, it's far too thin for my tastes compared to the vocal powerhouses who have played the role like Mandy Patinkin or Colm Wilkinson.

Director Alan Parker does a superb job of bringing a faithful adaption of the musical to screen while still adding elements to make it cinematic. It would be interesting to see what his Les Miserables would've been like if he went ahead with that, as originally intended.

Overall, a great film in my book. One of my favorites and I'm not afraid to admit it.

I watched Munich on DVD a few evenings ago and thought it was amazing.

Spielberg still has it, despite him going from the creative, low budget director of Duel to WOTW remake to this one. Great movie.

Royal Tenenbaums, again.

I don't think I've ever watched it without distractions, and now I realize what a beautifully shot, perfectly performed, and more than perfectly written piece this film is.  My new #1 of 2001 (taking over Memento).
