Tron: Legacy

Though it was a little more sentimental than I expected, and in certain places definitely felt hokey, I liked it.  The film's ambiance reminded me somewhat of Blade Runner.

As for attendance, I don't think my theatre was even a quarter full.

Tron: Legacy AND The King's Speech...

Tron: pretty good visuals...

The King's Speech: AMAZING - acting and script especially.... Oscars for Firth and Rush.

Synecdoche, New York

This is actually the second time I've seen it, but the first time I was just like "WTF?" and kind of quit paying attention. MUCH better on the second viewing. Especially as you're more likely to pay attention to the storytelling and acting and all instead of just thinking "Why is her house on fire? Why did that guy follow him for 20 years?" Also Phillip Seymour Hoffman was so great he went ignored, and probably because people usually expect him to be that good anyway. Very underrated performance.

WOW, not at all.  Totally lame and transparent.  Waste of time.

And for what it's worth, Charlestown didn't seem anything but pleasant when I was there.

The only thing I know about Captain Beefheart is one of the bands I saw at Dude Fest 2007 covered one of his songs.

Which one? My band used to cover "Ashtray Heart".

I'd actually be curious to see what you think about his stuff.

Of course, a lot his albums are wildly different from each other... worth keeping in mind.

Well done but very long.

Also there was a weird James Carville cameo in this. It kind of knocked me out of the movie for a few minutes not unlike when Tyler Perry randomly showed up in Star Trek.

Grown Ups (that Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, etc. going camping with their families movie) was on the plane on the flight across the Atlantic. It wasn't terrible or anything, but largely unfunny and pointless. It's always nice to see Tim Meadows and Colin Quinn getting work though.

The Day of the Jackal

Was saturday nights on TV, I think. Not surprisingly, it was much better than the Bruce Willis remake.

I saw Carville playing the slots at the Wynn Las Vegas a month ago.  He looks even less human in person.
