Currently the 21st greatest film of all time according to IMDB.

I personally think it's like watching a fuse slowly burn away - it's just so well put together. There are a few films from the last 7 years that I think are better, but that doesn't take anything away from it.

hahaha imdb ratings...what a joke.  though it is certainly a great film.

The Savages  (B)

Good, great performances from Hoffman and Linney, but not really anything new or original.  Just flowed OK without really having anything to say.  I don't know why it's up for screenplay.

Gone Baby Gone (B+)

Surprisingly good.  Well shot and told.  A pretty plain crime story with twists, but yeah.  Affleck the elder is a surefooted director, and Affleck the younger is becoming one of my favorite working actors, also due to...

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (A-)

Beautiful to look at, with a good story.  Great performances by Pitt and especially Affleck.  A little long, but so well done with a beautiful score.

What'd you think of the ending? People seem to either love or hate it. Personally I thought it was great, the only issue being Eli didn't look anywhere near as old as he should've been, but of course there was no way around that really.

Eli definitely should look his age. After all, Plainview does as well. It's not that hard, either. That's basically a genuine technical flaw of the movie. (And a reason why it isn't nominated in the Make-Up category, I suppose. Grin ) But it's not as if I really care about things like that.
I liked the ending. I am finished.

Vantage Point.

There's still some parts of it I don't understand, one of those movies you have to watch a few times to completely get. It got really entertaining near the end though.

I just got back after seeing "Rambo". Fantastic movie, it felt much more like a Rambo film then the new Die Hard felt like a Die Hard film. The kill scenes of the enemy were fantastic and the ending was brilliant.

Saw Vantage Point last night at the local AMC theater. The movie itself was like a bad episode of 24 (except instead of CTU being ridiculously incompetent, the Secret Service is). But someone pulled a fire alarm shortly before the movie began, which resulted in me grabbing two free movie passes from various different employees. So I guess it was worth it.

Vantage Point. Entertaining at the very least. Not designed for much more.

We Own The Night.

First half of the movie was great, then it got really stupid and the characters got unbelievable. And I don't know what they were trying with the ending, but it just didn't work.

Some idiot set a trash can on fire by putting a cigarette into it when we were in line to see "Titanic" a decade ago.

Back in 2000, my father and I were in a crowded audience to see "X-Men" and the film went suddenly to a black screen...and we had to wait about 10 minutes for it to catch up.

Supposedly in the late Summer of 2001, the theater my mom and sister were seeing "The Princess Diaries" in caught on fire.

Crash

Wow. Not the best movie ever because I felt uninterested in watching it at some parts, but probably the most intense movie I've ever seen for most of the last third of the movie.

The Searchers  by John Ford (R-CA). I can see how it was an inspiration for a lot of movies like Taxi Driver, The Hills Have Eyes, and parts of Star Wars. John Wayne's character Ethan Edwards is a very fascinating hero/anti-hero. I like how they set up the ambiguity of the central character and then his more humanistic sidekick, almost like his conscience, following him.

Jean Moulin. The guy himself is a uber-FF and the movie is great.

Better than the other Moulin film they made where it ended with the Germans arresting him.
