Amazing Grace. The score is pretty bad, especially in the really dramatic 'decision-making' moments, and the blind priest character seems a little forced, but overall I liked it quite a bit. That said, a film directed by the guy who makes the 7-UP series (Apsted) I will always go and see; a film with Ioan Gruffudd as the lead I will always go and see, and a film on the life of WW I will always go to see.

You also saw a film that was marketed heavily towards and promoted by Evangelical Protestants as good wholesome Christian entertainment. Next you'll be saying you support John Howard. (Please don't say that). Tongue

The last movie I saw was Hairspray, before that, The Namesake. I don't watch movies that much anymore. If you'd like to know why, ask States Rights about that weird little film I love.

Maybe it was marketed towards them in the US, not here. I also doubt that the people involved in the making of the film had any evangelical messages. They presented WW as a christian as he was, and religion was important to the film but it was important at the time culturally.

I'm not christian, but i'm not opposed to Christianity, although some Christians can be absolute arseholes about their faith.

The movie was a good one, and I enjyed watching it-just like I enjoy watching 'Touched By An Angel' when I want to watch feel-good pulp. I know it's extremely religiously motivated (duh) but if you want to feel gooey inside there is nothing better, I swear.

SiCKO

It was a real eye opener about the American Health Care system.  But many of you guys (including myself) already know the American Health Care system is pretty bad. I was very surprised to learn that Hillary Clinton, is the second highest payed Senator or a member of Congress that is payed by a private health care company. Talk about contradiction!

And, Gabu, watching 3 movies in 3 weeks does in no way qualify as a "shebang".

It does for me, given that I usually watch like three movies a year.

I was talking about the objective definition of the word "shebang".

I saw Hairspray tonight. Musicals aren't my thing, but it was interesting.

Loved that movie.  I thought it was really catchy and funny.

I just got back from seeing Superbad and it as fricking hilarious.  Nerds rule!

My father and I just finished watching "The Deer Hunter" with Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken and Meryl Streep...I didn't care for it...and my father disliked it.

I finally saw Bourne Ultimatum and thought it was decent enough. I disliked the first two.

I saw Invasion with Kidman & Craig tonight and thought it was very well done.

The fact that you prefer films like "Armageddon" to "The Deer Hunter" just explains so much.

The Deer Hunter was too long, too dramatic and just...kind of boring. We all have our tastes, Andrew.

The Girl Next Door.

Really good, I rented it expecting an American Pie-type sex comedy, but it wasn't like that at all, it's actually sort of a chick flick, but not so much that guys can't like obviously as I did. It has more in common with teen movies like Angus and Varsity Blues than pure toilet humor and sex ones like the American Pie series.

Naso: while we all do have our tastes, some peoples' are worse than others'. You fall into the former category I'm afraid.

Huh? What the hell you mean?

The statement about Naso is correct.

I don't call stuff like Armageddon some of the best movies ever made, nor have I have whined that a movie is "too long" or "too dramatic"

Yes! I saw it right after the Election in November 2004 and was surprised. I like the one guy...Timothy Olyphant...from Scream 2 and Die Hard 4....he's good.
