Into the Wild

Totally not worth the drive to Philadelphia to see. Nice scenery and acting though.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age

Not very impressive

Bee Movie

Solid, if more cliched than a Pixar would've been.

American Gangster

Denzel put in what should be an Oscar worthy preformance. Brutal, calculating, gentlemanly, he did it all. Crowe was not all that impressive at all, some of the supporting cast (corrupt cop with big mustache) turned in good preformances. All in all, extremely watchable.

Enchanted

I actually thought it was halfway decent.

I saw Disturbia yesterday. Shia Labeouf is the next leading man in Hollywood. Excellent preformance.

The Golden Compass

People protesting this movie is about the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long while. The only thing for religious people to get upset about is the manifestation of the soul as another entity which is depicted as free thinking and as a separate "being". The Magisterium is portrayed more as Big Brother than as the RCC or some religious body. I felt the movie had a far, far greater anti-authority message than anti-religion.

On an entertainment level it held my interest despite knowing the story and had ridiculously good CGI. The animals looked almost exactly like they were real creatures.

The plot jumped too much and never really flowed like some movies do, so I don't feel like I was ever caught and taken along on the ride like, for example, a Lord of the Rings movie would. The also think the content of the movie was adult, but the way it was presented was aimed at children, something that will probably kill its later weeks at the box office.

The Incredibles again. I'm convinced this is the pinnacle of what Pixar can do. Amazing.

National Treasure 2

No Nicholas Cage running scenes which was disappointing.

Finally got around to seeing I am Legend. Very good genre flick and a really standout preformance by Will Smith.

I was very impressed by The Lives of Others.

Charlie Wilson's War was pretty entertaining too, especially Hoffman.

Saw Eastern Promises last night. Not terribly impressed, especially with how short it was, but is was very jarring to see stuff like child prostitution happening in London. Definitely a depressing movie.

Atonement

Not terribly impressive, but moving throughout, fairly well acted besides Knightley (who is atrocious), and humorous in the beginning. Tad long too, but my patience tends to be stretched during dramas.

And Knightley should never be allowed to dive into water in underwear again. Or at least not until she grows breasts and stops with the eating disorder.

There Will Be Blood

Amazing example of an actor diving into a character and producing a great preformance (on both Eli's/Paul's and Daniel's case. Also a nice example of what alcoholism does to you over time. Notice that he drank heavily from the beginning of the movie and just went completely down hill. Not the best movie of the year, but if Daniel Day-Lewis does not win Best Actor the Academy Awards will have lost all meaning.

Match Point

Wow. I missed this first go around when my theater had it at the spring film festival, but I'm glad I finally got to see it. Incredibly well acted, filled with suspense, Scarlett Johannsen, well done plot. What more could you want.

There's sex. No nudity. I honestly can't remember what they do show.

And I saw The Bucket List Friday night. Not terrible.

Crash

Wow. Not the best movie ever because I felt uninterested in watching it at some parts, but probably the most intense movie I've ever seen for most of the last third of the movie.

27 Dresses

Waiting for a concert at the theater I work at and caught about thirty minutes. Good selection of hot actresses, nothing else remotely good about it.
