Too Much Future. A very good documentary movie about the GDR's punk scene. (Link is to a trailer on YouTube)

City of God.

It didn't blow me away or anything, but was rather good. But for a story that supposedly was trying to be so realistic, it threw in a real Hollywood type twist at the end (involving a minor character and seemingly minor incident)
What exactly do you mean by realistic?

Sheesh, I haven't been to a cinema in almost half a year. There are some movies coming up I want to catch though.

What'd you think of the ending? People seem to either love or hate it. Personally I thought it was great, the only issue being Eli didn't look anywhere near as old as he should've been, but of course there was no way around that really.
Eli definitely should look his age. After all, Plainview does as well. It's not that hard, either. That's basically a genuine technical flaw of the movie. (And a reason why it isn't nominated in the Make-Up category, I suppose. Grin ) But it's not as if I really care about things like that.
I liked the ending. I am finished.

I just got back from No Country for Old Men.

My god.  That was the tensest movie I've ever seen.  I'm still not sure what even happened at the end.  I'm going to have to think about it for a few days.

The Professional.

Not as good as the IMDB ranking, but still a rather touching yet also action-packed movie. Gary Oldman also gave one of the best portrayals of a villain I've ever seen, comparable to Javier Barden in No Country For Old Men.

Just saw that recently as well. Certainly a great performance from Natalie Portman as well, although her character was somewhat disturbing at times.

My friends and I also found the exchange "You really like that plant"/"It's my best friend" to score tremendously well on the Unintentional Comedy scale.
Except that it's Intentional.

I love that movie.

Well my dad saw it with my mom and he hated it (I'm not surprised.) She liked it though.
Hated it? What for?
I thought it was funny, improvable in parts, nothing to recall in fifty years' time of course.

Well, I wouldn't say it qualifies as a "joke," so much as the exchange just happened to be humorous.
What I meant is that your reaction is the reaction aimed at by the director.

The Great Train Robbery (1903), Edwin S. Porter's movie is often called the first Western with a fully defined narrative structure. It features things such as chase scenes, cross-cutting, and a man firing a pistol straight at the screen! Though with the amount of smoke that goes up and without sound or suspense, it's not scary to the modern viewer.
Only pre-30s movie I have ever thoroughly enjoyed.

Gomorrah

Great movie.
The incredible hideousness of the housing project where two of the five plots are set is worth the asking price alone.

Mein Freund aus Faro.

Explaining the ways in which this was a great movie and the ways in which it sucked will take longer than I have now.

Romeo + Juliet - Awful.  Just awful; I'm reading the play now, and I was appalled at how things were set up; especially the Queen Mab speech, and the party at Capulet's house.
Are you talking of William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet?

If so, prepare to die.

Just watched "Match Point", the Woody Allen movie, the other night - really enjoyed it.

You just liked it that the main character got away with murder.
It is a very good movie, though.

Species - A surprisingly good movie.  Not the best movie I've ever seen, but by no means the worst.  I may watch the sequel, if it's ever on TV.

Is that the one where Natasha Henstridge gets naked all over the place?
Yes. (Besides, it also has Forrest Whittaker whom I just love seeing, pretty much no matter how stupid his dialogue.)

And I agree - it's not bad at all (I saw it in the cinema when it was new, and late at night when I was bored on tv a few months ago). Never seen the sequel.

*clears throat*

Just seen the Wrestler. Wow.

Enjoyable (...) brutal BDSM-scenes and radical national socialism.
Get out of Gustaf's account, Stark.
