What'd you think of that, as someone who doesn't agree with most (any?) of what Gore is saying?

any

I thought the movie was prepared well if anything, though as propaganda films go, it didn't approach Why We Fight or Fahrenheit 9/11 in humor value.

Anyway, I saw A Scanner Darkly this week. What a depressing movie.

I saw The Guardian, which was a decent popcorn movie, and the Illusionist, which was very well done and acted.

The Descent
Snakes on a Plane

Both were bearable, though not entertaining.

Pursuit of Happiness

The best movie I've seen this year, and probably the best I've seen Will Smith act. Great movie.

Best Ten this Year:
1. Pursuit of Happiness
2. The Guardian
3. Little Miss Sunshine
4. Invincible
5. Happy Feet
6. Inside Man
7. Casino Royale
8. The Illusionist
9. World Trade Center
10. Scoop

Worst Five this Year:
1. A Scanner Darkly
2. Snakes on a Plane
3. Santa Clause III
4. Da Vinci Code
5. Pink Panther

Casino Royale dragged towards the end, and Happy Feet grew on me the third time I saw it. There were really twelve top level movies this year (Cars and United 93 also), and only the top four on my list stood out.

One of the top World War Two movies I've seen.

Blood Diamond

Almost caught up with the good movies from last year. Letters from Iwo Jima and The Last King of Scotland to go.

Children of Men

Very, very good look at a dystopian future.

I hope you're joking...

Anyway, I finally finished Minority Report. Excellent movie, even if I was watching more for how they handled the future rather than for the plot itself. Visually stunning.

I watched Last Kiss and Bridge to Terabithia today. Last Kiss was so-so, but I was expecting better based on how good Garden State was. Bridge to Terabithia was a nicely done movie, but nothing special.

Gettysburg - Which was the first time (though I had viewed Gods and Generals). I was very impressed with the guy who played Longstreet. Good movie, hardly noticed it was 4+ hours long.

Animal House - Massive let down from what I expected. Belushi was great, but I only laughed really hard twice.

Soylent Green - Very unimpressed. Stopped watching after a little bit.

Michael Collins - Fairly good movie with good acting, some historical inaccuracies, but good film of the period nonetheless.

I saw "Wild Hogs" in the theater on Sunday. Travolta, Liotta, Macy, Lawrence and Allen all give great performances and the movie was excellent and hilarious. Hopefully the large success thusfar will make movie companies think twice about using lame no-name actors in movies.

And instead use over the hill actors.

Jake Gyllenhaal is hot which made the length bearable.

Alright, you can acknowledge a guy is good looking, but this goes into the f****t category.

I rented Flyboys tonight. It was pretty pitiful all around and I quit watching. I'm going to watch The Departed and Borat tommorrow.

The Departed was also a solid film.

Zulu was amazing too.

Blades of Glory.

More Talladega Nights-like crap. When Will Ferrell finds the magic that made Anchorman and his part in Wedding Crashers genius, call me.

City of God, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Last Samurai

All mildly entertaining. City of God required thinking, which is a negative. Last Samurai had Tom Cruise, which is a negative, and Y Tu Mama Tambien just lost me after awhile.

I saw Curse of the Golden Flower today. Why must every Chinese film contain horribly fake martial arts?

The acting was solid in places, but the plot centered around the impossible fight scenes which killed it. The Empress, Gong Li, was excellent sometimes.
