On Her Majesty's Secret Service

I've been taking full advantage of the James Bond marathon on Encore-on-Demand.

Species - A surprisingly good movie.  Not the best movie I've ever seen, but by no means the worst.  I may watch the sequel, if it's ever on TV.

Is that the one where Natasha Henstridge gets naked all over the place?

hahaha

"Do you wanna go in my garage and do karate?"

This movie was really overhyped for me, but it was still funny though.

Good Night, and Good Luck.

Eh, actually rather boring. An important story, but not the most interesting one. It probably would be more interesting to have a film about those who went against McCarthy more directly.

Heavenly Creatures. Without a doubt Peter Jackson's best film.

Watched quite a few films over the past week or so:

Doubt
Hoffman and Streep were very good. The ending was so-so, but not a bad film.

Waltz With Bashir
I didn't really know anything about the incident this film concerns. The film has its own intriguing style and a fascinating story to tell.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Watchable, though too long. A stronger second half. Not one of Fincher's finest.

Hunger
The film has a unique form of exposition and is artistically shot.

The Accused
Both Foster and McGillis are good. Decent film.

Blade Runner
It's ok, but I just don't get why this film has such a following.

Watch it again. (Was it Directors Cut, Final Cut or Original Hollywood release?)

Yeah... the first time I tried to watch Blade Runner I thought it was boring as hell. I became a die-hard fan of this movie not earlier than the fifth time I saw it. Wink

Final Cut.
It was the second time I've seen the film. The first time, I was of the same impression as Old Europe - I thought it was really boring. (It must have been a different cut, because the ending was different.)

This time I didn't find it boring, but I didn't get anything special about it.

Sex Drive.

Much better than most movies of its type today. Not a classic but it managed to be funny instead of just crude and raunchy and not funny.

1987 action/drama film called "The Principal". Jim Belushi plays the principal of a school where people are totally out of control with drugs, gangs, ect.

Good flick, I saw it back in 2003 and had forgotten most of the story.

Tideland-WHOA, weird movie.  Good though.  It's one of those movies you don't need to see more than once.  Or would want to.  Great acting by the little girl and the "special" kid.

Last House on the Left-Kind of disappointing.  I was expecting something....a little more?..I'm not sure.  I suppose it was ahead of it's time, but it's been done better by a lot of movies since.  I doubt it will make it into my regular rotation of horror movies.  It probably didn't help that I saw a (poorly) edited version of the movie on TV when I was 11 or 12 so I kind of knew what was going to happen.

Hey dead0man...it's really strange because they keep remaking films from the 1980s which I saw as "recent" films when I was a kid....but they are also making sequels to films from the 1980s (Rambo, Rocky, upcoming Beverly Hills Cop VI and Three Men and a Bride)...so it's hard to put together in my mind.

Hell, I remember vividly going to the video store with my older sister around 1996 to rent a horror film. We rented "The Funhouse", a 1981 horror movie by the director of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Suddenly that film is over a quarter of a century old. Crazy.

Just to be clear, I saw the original Last House on the Left, not the current remake.  I haven't seen any of the recently remade horror movies.  Well, I've seen bits and pieces of the new Hills Have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I will probably watch the new Friday the 13th when it makes it to DVD as I'm a fan of the series.  For the most part, the remakes all suck.

In The Valley of Elah - a pretty good anti-war movie with Tommy Lee Jones.  Anyone seen it?

I liked it but I thought the message got a bit too blatant. Movies should be more subtle.

Yes. (Besides, it also has Forrest Whittaker whom I just love seeing, pretty much no matter how stupid his dialogue.)

And I agree - it's not bad at all (I saw it in the cinema when it was new, and late at night when I was bored on tv a few months ago). Never seen the sequel.

*clears throat*

Just seen the Wrestler. Wow.

Mulholland Dr.

I didn't know anything about the film before I watched it; I'm not sure I know anything about the film after watching it.

Then you're quite dense. Brilliant movie, at least the first 3/4 of it. The Winky's scene near the beginning is absolutely classic.
