Indiana Jones 4 (saw it last night at 1201)

It was enjoyable, but kinda underwhelming. And the ending sucked. And apparently, Soviet troops have worse accuracy than Imperial Storm Troopers.

Certainly not as memorable as the other three films.

Indy 4

Almost embarassing to sit through. Just absolutely ridiculous.

(Not that there wasn't a cool scene or two, the whole package was just a joke)

I too saw Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I must say, I liked it. I was very entertained by it. Smiley

The Patriot (2000)

One of my favourite historical films I have seen today. We have seen three films in American History, and this one was the best one my teacher has shown us. I know I'd rather watch The Patriot anyday over Kevin Costner's 1991 "classic" Dances with Wolves.

Whilst Mel Gibson is featured more so in the film than Jason Isaacs, it is indeed Issacs who steals Gibson's "sunshine" the film. Jason Isaacs was so convincing as an actor in the film, thanks to his barbaric nature towards the American Revolutionary War as British Colonel William Tavington, that for a moment I believed that he was a cruel and insane human being. But that all ended once I saw an interview, conducted by Richard Wilkins some years ago and he seemed to be a very nice fellow.

Shame Isaacs wasn't nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the Patriot. If he was he would have had a good shot at winning one, even though it was a certainty that Jim Broadbent would win for his role in Iris.

actually, most publications had McKellan as the odds-on favorite to win that year.  and Isaacs couldn't have won, the film had such middling reviews.

At the theaters, Iron Man.

At home -- every one of you except Rin is gonna laugh at me -- but ---

I watched The Little Princess with Shirley Temple.  My daughter actually ASKED to watch it, which shocked me.  She hates old movies.  But she loved it.  As for me -- I was fine after the first 20 minutes, when the Daddy had to leave his little girl and go off to fight in the Boer War.  My daughter thought it was terrifically funny that I got choked up over that.

But I am a bachelor this weekend!!!!  HUZZAH for the in-laws!!!  My Mrs. and daughter are going to Ohio and I have the TV all to myself.  There shal be much drinking, much farting, much baseball, much scratching and lots of westerns, war movies and horror-fests.  If I have time, I might even watch Goodfellas for the 112th time!

I hope we can start a petition drive to make sure Gwyneth wears that blue satin dress in EVERY sequel.

Thanks for your insight. I actually assumed that Broadbent was the odds on favourite to win the Oscar back at the 74th Academy Awards, thanks to his win in the Golden Globes.

Iron Man

Absolutely amazing!  Downey Jr. was great, and the preview for The Dark Knight was great, too.  This is going to be a good summer for movies.

I just saw Prince Caspian.  Very good, though missing some of the magic of the first movie.  However, what is surprising was how little turnout there was at the theatre tonight.  My movie only had 13 people in it, and I doubt that any of the showings of Indiana Jones was sold out.  Almost looked like it was a weekday showing.

It's called the "fanboy effect". Movies like that always drop hard in the second week.

Turns out that our theatre had a record "low" turnout for memorial day weekend.  Must be due to the first 'rain free' weekend we've had in months, everyone decided to stay home and enjoy it.

I just saw a couple.  I saw Iron Man, which was much better than I expected though still not too entertaining.  I'm not much of a hero fan or a comic book fan.  I also just saw Se7en.  Veeery weird.  And then I also saw some movie I can't remember the name of that was on one of the movie channels.  It had Robert DeNiro and Wesley Snipes.  Snipes was a baseball player for the Giants and DeNiro was a crazy fan.  It was fairly stupid.

The Fan
