He got 50% in Sumter County, so he must have at least done reasonably well.

It was much smaller back then, had a higher proportion of FDR/GI Generation retirees (as opposed to mostly silents & boomers today, who are way more Republican), and Nelson beat Harris by 22 points statewide, so there's a decent chance he did.

It was much smaller back then, had a higher proportion of FDR/GI Generation retirees (as opposed to mostly silents & boomers today, who are way more Republican), and Nelson beat Harris by 22 points statewide, so there's a decent chance he did.

Yes, The Villiages are more or less a modern boomtown. Population only really started exploding at the turn of Century, and really took off in the middle of the 2010s. The entire Villages locale is far above 100K these days, but that is a recent development. I suspect the truly explosive growth in the last few decades was correlated with the financial crisis. The normal retiree population was looking for comparatively cheap and comparatively financially solid properties. Florida had tons of the former, but the latter was only available in a few places like said Villages.

Which of the three counties that encompass The Villages is the bluest of the three? I think Lake County is.
