So aside from New Hampshire shifting right, it looks like the party coalitions have barely changed throughout the decade. That's kind of sad.

Some mistakes in this thread! Who's the Republican Nominee, Pence or Hawley? Also I thought Harris was the incumbent, as you have the Republican National Convention (which is being held where?) being held after Democrats Convention! As I understand things, the incumbent is always nominated after challenger! There was no vice presidential debate either in the timeline, other than that the timeline is OK?
1. So is it Hawley or Pence?
2. Shouldn't Democrats Convention come after Republican? As Harris is the incumbent & not Hawley.
3. No vice presidential debate?

Mistake with the names (Hawley/Pence). Hawley is the nominee.
The convention times, do not matter
Forgot to add the VP Debate. I'll do that right now.

Sorry for the mistakes!

Nov. 8, 2028: President Harris declares victory

Wikimedia Commons

Hello and welcome to CNN, I'm Wolf Blitzer. Tonight's election was close but the results did not surprise many people as Harris was ahead in the polls from the conventions to election night. President Harris beat her Republican Challenger, Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO). The Democrats also were able to take back the Senate from the Republicans, by picking up a seat in Georgia and North Carolina, and they lost their seat in Wisconsin. However, Republicans were able to hold on to their majority in the House of Representatives, despite losing 8 seats, mostly in the Sunbelt. This election overall was considered a victory Democrats, in part because they will likely get to approve a new Supreme Court Justice in the next session of Congress, as they have retained the Presidency and gained back the Senate. It is also important to note that after the last three Presidential elections, the Democratic Party has ended with a slight Senate majority with a 50-50 tie, with the Vice President (Harris and then Buttigieg) breaking ties. We will now tune to President Harris, at her victory party in Los Angeles, California!

"Hello America! We have done it! We have won another term, and will continue to fight for you the American people. I am so thrilled that myself, Doug, Pete, and Chasten will get another four years in office. I am so proud of the work that we have done, and I am so excited for more. This election truly was one to remember. We retained the White House, gained back the Senate, and gained eight seats in the House of Representatives. In the next session of Congress, the Senate under a Democratic majority will approve Judge Michelle Friedland, and we will make her a Justice Michelle Friedland! Thank you again and God Bless You and lastly, God Bless America!"

Nov. 9, 2028: Josh Hawley concedes

Wikimedia Commons

Today, two days after the election, Missouri Senior Senator Josh Hawley conceded to President Harris, in a public speech and admitted defeat.

"Hello, everyone! I want to thank everyone who made this great campaign possible. This was and of course still is a movement. Although, we have lost this one battle, we will win the war. We are strong and are the soul of the country. I called President Harris to concede and wished her the best. I want to thank her for her kind words. I also want to thank the great Governor of Florida, Jeanette Núñez (R-FL). Jeanette really is a champaign, and believe me, she has a bright future ahead of her. I want to reiterate that today is not a sad day, as we still hold a majority in the House and we will continue to fight for America. Thank you!"

Do you think Wolf Blitzer would continue covering for CNN? I could be wrong, but I think he's going to retire before he turns 80 years old.

Dec. 14, 2028: Assassination Attempt on President Harris

Wikimedia Commons

Breaking News. We have just received word that an assassination attempt on President Harris just took place. A far-right group, named the "proud boys," orchestrated the attack on Harris and indeed were trying to kill her. This also is significant as former President Trump called out the proud boys in a 2020 Presidential Debate, against Joe Biden, when he said, stand back and stand by." The plan was intense and long planned, although it was a huge failure as they did not include law enforcement and surveillance. They domestic terrorist group tried to assassinate Harris at an indoor event with veterans in Richmond, Virginia. About 8 members of the group went ot the event and were planning on waiting until she left the event to shoot her. They were caught two weeks before the event which was scheduled for December 21st, 2028. The event has been cancelled due to the threats towards President Harris, and Harris' staff in the White House, wants to avoid any issues. Harris has spoken on the attempt and stated, "Hello everyone. As it has been reported their recently was a large and coordinated attack on my life, by a domestic terrorist group. This was a terrible attack on our nation. I want to first, assure everyone that my family and I are doing well right now. I want to thank our intelligence community and the great men and women who work to protect our nation. As a country we need to stand together against hate and radical groups. Thank you all and stay safe."

I'm not sure if that is an insult. Either way, I do not care. This timeline was fun, and might not be over yet, depending on if people want more.

I wouldn't mind a summary of Harris's second term, but I can see why you'd want to wrap it up now, with the decade nearly done.

I think it makes the most sense thematically to end it with the end of the Harris administration. Harris winning in 2024 was partially the result of Biden winning in 2020, so itd feel like the natural conclusion. Of course, if your bored, then ending it now is probably better.

I say continue Harris's 2nd term but after that, do a quick recap, then call it quits.

Jan. 20, 2029: 2nd Inauguration of Kamala Harris

Wikimedia Commons

Today, on January 20th, 2029, Kamala Harris was sworn in at her second inauguration, after winning for re-election in early November, against Missouri Senior Senator Josh Hawley, in a close election.

"Hello, America! We have had a successful first term, and I am so excited to continue the work that needs to be done for the American people. Our administration led by myself and Vice President Buttigieg are proud of the work we have done and we remain popular. We need to continue working for the American people. The first matter of business is for the Senate to confirm Judge Michelle Friedland to the Supreme Court and make her a Supreme Court Justice. We also need to work hard on the environment and stop Climate Change. We need to work with our allies all over the world! Thank you to everyone who supported me and every American! God bless you and god bless America!"
