What would the 1920 election look like if Theodore Roosevelt won in 1912 as the Republican nominee with Hiram Johnson as his VP? Would the Democrats finally win a Presidential Election for the first time since 1892? Or would the Republicans continue their dominance?

Leonard Wood wins on the back of his very successful service as Commander-in-Chief of the American Expeditionary Force in the Great War.

Who would his VP be? Because it's likely that Leonard Wood would die in the later half of his 2nd term. When do you think the Democrats would return out of Presidential exile? Would the Great Depression happen later? Also curious why you chose Leonard Wood over the incumbent Vice President Hiram Johnson.

My wild guess is something like this:

✓ Vice President Hiram Johnson (R-CA)/General Leonard Wood (R-NH): 321 EVs.; 51.2%
Governor James Cox (D-OH)/Senator Robert Latham Owen (D-OK): 210 EVs.; 46.9%

Idk who Wood would select to be his VP. Dems probably don't return to the White House 'til at least '32, like in real life; perhaps even '36. Great Depression would probably be delayed on account of the '20s not being the era of laissez-faire economics. I chose Wood because he'd obviously have the support of Roosevelt.

I'm sorry but I think that the republican party luck would run out after this for at least one term

I think the pendlum would have swung back and a Democrat is elected in 1920.

✓ Governor James M. Cox (D-OH)/Senator Gilbert Hitchcock (D-NE): 280 EV. (50.22%)
Major General Leonard Wood (R-NH)/Governor J. Calvin Coolidge (R-MA): 251 EV. (46.74%)

Completely agree. That was 24 years of republican rule we are talking about. No way in hell they can keep up the streak any longer than one maybe two more. Now the real debate is if the democrat gets a second term or not
