From what I've seen of the guy, he would've gone the way of Hickenlooper and Bullock if he ran (though Bullock probably would've fared better if he got in the race earlier). The Democratic bench of Governors just wasn't big enough or good enough for 2020. Even in 2024, the only two sitting Governors I can see getting traction that year are Whitmer and Newsom.
