Just got a calculation back of the 'notional' 2003 results for my ward. Interesting is all I shall say.

A candidate should never trust his own vibes Smiley Am I doing well? Yes. Better than at the start? Yes. Am I at my best when talking with people in the 'roughest' estates and being invited in for the umpteenth cup of tea of the day or playing 'kickabout' in the playing fields despite looking like an ass ? Yes. Will I win?

No.

Just for fun, I was out delivering leaflets on Tuesday and encountered a sign stuck to their post box.

'No election communication please. I'm a Lord and my wife's a lunatic.'

According to the Western Mail, the eight key FPTP seats are:

Aberconwy, Cardiff North, Clwyd West, Llanelli, Caerphilly, Carmarthen West & South Pembroke, Delyn, Preseli Pembroke.

The same article says that Wrexham is reported to be very close.

Curiosity question that's a bit off-topic.

Are minor nobility or royal family members allowed to run for MP positions or other local political positions, or even vote according to your comment?

Any person may vote or run for the House of Commons provided that they are not a member of the House of Lords. Most members of the hereditary nobility are not House of Lords members any more, however, a small minority do remain (92). Life peers are also denied their vote for the Commons.

All nobility, whether in the Lords or not, may run for local councils, and presumably may vote in those elections also.

Her Majesty by constitutional convention does not vote or run for office (as she is the Crown she technically presides over the House of Lords and is a member of it). Other members of the immediate royal family also obey this convention. Failure to follow the convention would most likely cause the government to recommend to the person that they relinquish their HRH and Princely titles, and their claim to the Throne.

Some news from Wales:

1. Word is that Aberconwy is a Plaid/Con fight. No really a surprise o/c.

2. The Plaid candidate for Swansea West has made a post on his blog that seems to indicate that he thinks he'll lose.
