We have no-excuse absentee voting, and they have mailed absentee ballot request forms to all voters for the primary (an unprecedented step).  You still have to return the request form to get the absentee ballot itself, and then send that back in.

The State Election Board voted unanimously Wednesday to allow Georgia voters to turn in their absentee ballots at drop boxes, an option that avoids human contact during the coronavirus pandemic.

Drop boxes can be set up on government property before Georgia’s primary on June 9. Voters will be able to submit their absentee ballots without having to pay for postage or hand them directly to county election workers.

This is a nice development and I applaud the board for implementing it.  Using a drop box will also ensure that an absentee ballot isn't lost or delayed in the mail.

CT Pres. Primary delayed to August 11:

Connecticut’s bouncing presidential primary, already pushed from April 28 to June 2 in the public health crisis, will now be August 11, six days before Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee.

The new date that Lamont agreed upon with Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, coincides with other primaries, including General Assembly, congressional and local offices.

“To protect the health and safety of voters, poll workers, and the most vulnerable populations, it just makes most sense to extend the date out to August,” Lamont said in a statement. “I appreciate the continued contact with Secretary Merrill, as well as all of our town clerks and registrars who’ve worked with us each step of the way through this crisis to respond and make necessary adjustments.”

I don't think the primary should have been canceled, but it isn't completely equivalent. This primary honestly doesn't matter as much as a presidential election and its ostensibly being canceled over concerns of public health and safety. We all know why Trump would want to cancel or delay an election, no matter what reasoning he gives.

I don't think the primary should have been canceled, but it isn't completely equivalent. To add to that it was the New York Board of Elections who cancelled the primary which is standard practice for the state in cases of only one candidate in a primary race. As soon as Sanders dropped out Biden effectively became unopposed which under the state election procedure means their would be no formal primary ballot. As another example of this in 2018’s Gov election the Republican Gov primary was cancelled after several candidates withdrew after the Republican convention.

Tired of all these states running away from their Dates.  I know the virus is serious and all, but just have mail in voting.  Honestly, I would prefer all 50 states vote on THE SAME DAY, but since we can't have that, at least states should stick to their Dates.  What's next, states will hold primaries in December?   Maybe wait til Next Year?   Come on, face the music, vote by mail or whatever, and get your voting done!  Because of all these states running away from their Dates, many states effectively lost their Say in the primary because even Bernie had enough and dropped out.  Stick with your Dates and get 'er done, stop running forward.

The US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled Tuesday that the New York Democratic presidential primary may proceed as planned next month.

The three-judge panel's ruling affirmed a federal judge's order from early May to hold the primary election on June 23 as planned and to reinstate qualified presidential and delegate candidates to the Democratic primary ballot. The state had appealed the order.

"We have reviewed all of the remaining arguments raised by Defendants on appeal and find them to be without merit," the judges wrote in Tuesday's decision.

Following the decision, New York State Board of Elections co-chair Douglas Kellner said another appeal would not be filed.

I just wanna remind everyone that for a brief, shining moment, people unironically thought West Virginia was dying for socialism based on the 2016 primary results in which like 40% of Bernie voters said they’d vote for Trump over him.

Now Biden made Bernie unviable in the state that nearly voted for a convict as a protest vote over Obama in 2012. Hands down the biggest victory in a WV Dem primary since 2004.

But, you know, the WWC is just dying for socialism, clearly. And Biden won’t be the perfect candidate to win more than enough back to win the election, especially when you consider that’s just on top of his massive gains with suburbanites.
