Statement on new leadership role, plans for 104th Senate

Today I received the confidence of the Senate to preside over our new unicameral body as its first PPT! Senator North Carolina Yankee, in keeping with the tradition of handing the Deputyship to a member of the Opposition, is now our Deputy PPT.

The Senate has quite a busy agenda ahead, including our annual budget. The Senate needs to decide quickly if it is in our best interest to nix the Comptroller General position or leave that duty to the President, but absent a learned and impartial scorer who has the time and interest, the spot cannot be filled. There is possibility that Congress will absorb the duties of the Comptroller General as a collective 18-member body, however that is not my desire.

Since our new rules package, I have introduced three pieces of legislation, the first of which equalizes term lengths for all senators and schedules the election of regional senators to coincide with those of subregional senators. Nicknamed for the RL Nebraska's legislative system, this amendment will clear the distinction between senators of equal power.

Subsequently, I have introduced legislation to protect domestic agriculture by petitioning for investigation into illegal dumping as well as a 21% global corporate tax. It is my intention that with both these bills, we can maintain a system of trade that is fair to the Atlasian worker, and promotes job growth here at home.

Trade an issue that must be tackled in this session, and I will be working closely with the President as well as the Senate in keeping China in check by allying with our partners in the Pacific.

But in order for all of this to happen, we need a committed Senate. I reiterate my suggestion for parties to delegate whipping responsibilities to one person. It can only serve everyone's interest to be attentive an to be present in our first session of the new legislature.

Thank you.

Scott, President pro tempore

On Socialism

Upon the adoption of the new Labor Party rules, our new platform includes the following plank: "The means of production should belong to the workers who use them."

I voted for that plank. Here I will explain why.

Senator AGA charged our party with openly endorsing socialism, even though this has been a part of our plank since last September. Well, given that the Labor/left coalition has controlled the entire government for two years, I think we've seen what this 'socialism' entails. And it's working for the Republic of Altasia.

The Senator further charges that people in Frémont are taxed 100%, which is rather rich given that we're the only one of the three regions that has consolidated all federal and local spending. Our tax burden is also very low, with only those in the higher brackets paying a dime to Denver.

We've established a very successful region-wide vaccine distribution program. New Mexico is currently #3 in the nation for vaccinations.

What most people do not know is that Frémont has arguably the most 'socialist' health care plan in the country. In Frémont, patients have an array of choice: many pick the public plan, and those who don't are allowed to enroll with private, nonprofit sickness funds.

We did not get these ideas from Soviet Russia, from Cuba, from Argentina. We got them from our friends in Germany, which has one of if not the most efficient health care system in Europe.

The "socialism" that Senator AGA speaks of has been good for Atlasia. And Frémont stands as a model for a generous, fiscally responsible, social democracy. I'm very proud to help represent it.

But Labor is and will continue to be the party of the people. We support initiatives for workplace democracy. We support maternity and paternity leave. We fight the corporate backers who wish to roll back the New Great Society.

If supporting these policies makes me a socialist, then I am a socialist. I proudly stand with organized labor. I am fighting unfair trade policies that have put Atlasian farmers at a disadvantage, and I am fighting for more equal economic benefits from our global, information-based economy.

To sum this up: if Senator AGA is charging Labor and Frémont Labor with socialism, then the only conclusion that can be drawn is socialism works. Not only that, but it works in a way that continues to create jobs, promote entrepreneurship and technology, and weather regions like Frémont through the pandemic.

Labor has shown it is possible. Because it's what we do.

On the Southern Governor's Race

As this message and endorsement pertains to an election in a region other than my own, I will keep things brief. Let me just say this: if I were registered in the South, razze would be my first choice for governor and Weatherboy would be my second.

Rarely do I ever make an endorsement for people outside of Frémont, but it is clear that the incumbent governor is not fit for the office he currently holds. I'll make no bones about what I am about to say next: Governor LT is two-faced, he is a liar, he is a doxxer. I also have saved evidence of the way LT conducts himself when the spotlight is not on him. Now while I would prefer to not release the chat log unless requested, I can assure my friends in the South that any person not named LT can be trusted to run the South because they care about their region. Not for vengeance. Not out of vanity.

Once again, PLEASE preference Razze and Weatherboy and NOT LouisvilleThunder. I would personally choose Razze first, but the most important thing for the game and for the South is that we unseat people who objectively unqualified and morally compromised to hold the office that they so do.

Country must always come before party.

Thank you.

While I was very hesitant about posting the screenshots, I believe that this weekend it is important to know the kind of person you might be voting for. While I realize this is just a game, character matters. The incumbent Southern governor has none.

This conversation happened after it was discovered that a mole was sent into Labcord, and I successfully baited LT to confirm what I suspected.

Leaking from Laborcord is a far braver act of putting country before party than you writing a speech endorsing the left in an election against me.

I can endorse whoever I want. You apparently still haven't changed at all because you consider spying an act of bravery.

I never went into your servers using a pseudonym or otherwise. I never asked anyone to, either. You did. This is the precedent you're setting.

And it is, in part, why you were banned from Lokcord.

Stop trying to defend or justify yourself, Louie. Save it for your court case.

Statement on Israeli elections

As we anxiously await the results of last week's election in Israel, it is important for Atlasia to have a coherent approach to both Israel and Palestine. Simply put, as long as we have corrupt leadership and violence, there can be no resolve.

I believe that the two-state solution is the answer to the territorial conflict. However, it will require leaders on both sides who share in our desire to put an end to the violence.

One of my foreign policy goals is to recognize Palestine as a state. But this problem cannot be solved by legislation. And it is imperative that President Sev and Secretary IBDU defend our liberal values.

Any negotiation for peace can only work if it is equally supported by both sides. And fulfillment of the binding rules must be enforced temporarily by international parties.

Illegal settlement building must end, and it is the duty of this nation to elucidate our values. Terrorism is never acceptable in any context.

Both the Resolution Honoring Fast-Food Burger Restaurants and the Wulfric Resolution are frivolous and as such will not be brought to the Senate floor.

This morning I officially kicked off my reelection campaign in St. Paul. Whether I face an opponent or not, it is important for all senators to stay in touch with their constituents and outline their priorities. While we await the GM's news updates, it is essential that we try our best to earn our right to govern, no matter how easy any race may seem. For the life of the game, that is vital.

St. Paul, Minnesota1
drive-in mega-rally, social distancing enforced in non-vaccinated section - livestreamed on MN Labor Website

Good morning, St. Paul!

As Labor's accomplishment under Governor Bayroom-Coons is yet to be reported by the GM, I am kicking off Labor's planned tour around the country in my first capacity as Local Elections Coordinator. Minnesota, you have always been good to me, and I'm proud to be representing this great state in the Senate. As Senate leader, I've led a divided Senate towards consensus after consensus on what is best for the Atlasian people. Trade is fundamentally one of those issues, as I have pursued initiatives for our nation to overhaul the tax code so that corporate profits cannot be hidden in tax havens. We're putting our workers first as the main drivers of our economy, and I've done my part as leader to enforce a new ideal: Atlasia first, but not Atlasia alone.

Setting a fair playing field will require a cooperative relationship with our trade partners and allies, and well over a hundred nations have recognized the need for a global overhaul, to mitigate the greed that leaves our nation poorer, and the needs of hardworking Minnesotans last.

And those hardworking Minnesotans includes no shortage of immigrants, particularly those of Muslim faith. It is one of the reasons why we need to empower our nation, one state at a time, to meet the challenges that China poses to the world stage. In July, the Senate invested in the resettlement of 150,000 refugees from countries where their lives and their families' safety might be in jeopardy. We have taken China's abuses to the world Muslim community head-on by strengthening our sanctions against goods produced by Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities who have suffered and been subject to indoctrination and numerous human rights abuses by the People's Republic of China.

It is my position that while the Second Korean War helped to reinforce Atlasian strength across the globe, our true strength lies in our values. Atlasia is at its strongest when we stand boldly for our principles, for human rights and for immigrants who come to enrich as well as assimilitate into our culture, by celebrating the rights that our constitution affords us. On that front, I will never quit to defend the Atlasian way of life and right to pursue happiness for both our native-born and our non-native born.

The great spirit of cooperation that inhabits this state - that great union between the farmer, the teacher, the blue-collar worker, the immigrant, our families, and our democratic values - meld as one uniquely Atlasian culture. Out-of-staters call it "Minnesota nice." Here in the Twin Cities and stretching throughout to our lakes and farms, it's just another Tuesday.

So I hope you will join us in this campaign, to reelect Labor and continue to respond to the needs of the people. As we eagerly anticipate the Game Moderator's first report, it is my hope and expectation that Minnesota receives a grade of good health. That includes vaccinations and our efforts in combating COVID-19 and the new Delta variant.

But I caution you, folks: we cannot mask or socially distance our way out of this pandemic. Fremont has had a spectacular rollout, and the number of fully vaccinated people only increases. Over 90% of patients hospitalized are the unvaccinated, even with the Delta variant.

And so I say let's stay the course. To quote the great Paul Wellstone, "We all do better when we all do better." This month, vote for Labor candidates up and down the ballot. Reelect Governor Bayroom-Coons with a mandate to continue our economic recovery, and elect senators who share your values. The party that does that, is the Labor Party.

Thank you, St. Paul, and thank you for being my first visit after so much time off the campaign trail! Dave bless you all!

Less than six hours left to go! Please vote in both the Regional and National Senate elections; no matter how noncompetitive a race may appear, we need a great turnout boost to fight back the narrative that the game is dying. I don't want to see that happen, and so I urge everybody who hasn't voted yet to make their voices heard today.

Post-election statements

After an abysmal election, we now know who our new senators will be. Congratulations to those who won, and I wish the best for the ones who lost.

I've said it before: with school returning, less activity should be expected - this especially with two people who are recovering from injury or illness. To that point, I wish President Sev and Senator Yankee well, and look forward to working with them in the new session.

It is my hope that over these next two months, the President will assemble his National Security Council. We also find ourselves without a Secretary of State. I have some recommendations for a replacement in mind, namely Senator wxtransit or Senator weatherboy, but it is the President's decision. We need to know the results of the Israeli elections in July and make Middle Eastern peace a priority, in addition to countering the influence and human rights abuses of China.

In the meantime, I have taken the initiative in solving our water crisis out west. Both the Colorado River and the Great Salt Lake are at a crossroads. We need to promote conservation as must as possible. We need to invest in California's water supply in order to free up the Colorado River for the interior southwest, as well parts of Texas which are experiencing droughts.

I will again run for President pro tempore and remain invested in enacting policies that improve conditions for working people, supporting families, guaranteeing health care for all, and saving our environment.

Thank you to the people of the Mountain-Interior West for their renewed confidence in me. Our work continues.

solo speech in front of the Utah State Capitol, with limited (fully vaccinated) guests in attendance, livestreamed on cable news

Hello, Salt Lake City, to the people of Utah, to the Commonweath, and to the nation. It is great to be back in the Beehive State after taking such a long hibernation period from touring the states and regions.

As you know, Utah is not currently scheduled for upcoming elections. In fact, it is questionable whether we will be seeing any more NSC campaigns again. As I have said, the game fatigue is very real. The game itself is at a crossroads, and I have been doing everything within my power to advance commonsense progressive legislation that steers our nation between the tides of apathy and revolution, to aid our workers and their families in this time of great uncertainty, to reboot our economy and arise from the pandemic stronger than before.

While our economy is growing, this obviously means nothing to the general well-being of the game. Sadly, there is little appetite to debate the bills pending on the Senate floor, much less to make the hard decisions necessary to curb the apathy and make our game more welcoming and enticing to potential registrees and active politicians.

GM Peanut has been inactive for several months. This has, naturally, stalled the NPC campaigns from continuing. Even more troubling is that few have expressed any interest in continuing the campaigns - these same campaigns, which were implemented not only to boost activity levels but to reward parties for their hard work, quick thinking, smart strategizing, and for directly responding to the people who are directly impacted by our policies.

While we do not yet know what next month will bring, the one who is elected - be that President Sev, Senator Spark, or anybody else - must address the malaise head-on. Folks, no matter how you slice it, we need an active Game Moderator. We need to finally establish a new NPC that will work with incoming Secretary wxtransit, and craft an Atasian-first foreign policy that fights for human rights abroad. My goals heading into the State Department have been made very clear.

But the State Department, alas, is but one cog in the machine. Absent the enthusiasm necessary to keep the game alive, this game will continue its slide down to abandonment.

This problem must be acknowledged immediately, and regardless of who runs in next month's elections, we can leaders we can count on. No one person can do it alone. Yet we are running out of options, and irrespective of who is to blame, this must be a matter of concern regardless of party affiliation.

Once again: one person is not enough. And we must also have all options on the table to rejuvenate morale and make the hard, but necessary, decisions. It is no doubt tragic that our President is injured and our Deputy PPT has been sick, but the show must go on. And we need active, dedicated leadership in order for the game to have any hope of survival.

As only one voice in the Senate, I can promise you nothing under than my endless battle to keep the union intact. I have tried to be the Senate's top inter-party diplomat in crafting bi- or tri-partisan legislation. Unfortunately, the Federalists have decided to go down another road with regard to this vaccine mandate. While heart patients are being turned away due to COVID overload, the Federalists have offered nothing but dissent to commonsense measures to end the mask mandates, to re-open our schools and businesses, and to return to a pre-COVID state of normalcy.

It truly is, and I say this from the bottom of my heart, unfortunate that the current vote is so close; we are a measly single vote away from tying this bill in the chamber and two from passing it with an outright majority. Not a single amendment was offered by any of the dissenters as a gesture of compromise, or any alternative whatsoever to getting the population vaccinated.

Make no mistake: this negligent attitude affects far more than just the individuals opting not to be vaccinated. A man from Alabama was denied hospice care and died of a cardiac-related health account, after repeated denials from dozens of hospitals across three states to provide this man with an ICU bed, thanks to COVID patient overload. The only other thing I can really say on the matter is that my thoughts and prayers are with this gentleman and his family, and all future patients who are unable to find care due to scarcity of resources.

It is unconscionable to vote against a bill that requires refugees and would-be migrants to achieve their immunizations prior to entering our borders. It is unconscionable to continue to expect poor and working-class Atlasians to continue to endure COVID restrictions and delays, both in the private and the public sector.

While I cannot say with certainty that this bill will pass, I can promise that Frémont will be deliberating similar legislation should the federal bill fail. Frémont will maintain its status as the best-ran region in the country, insulating ourselves from cases coming from outside our borders as well as the chaos in Lincoln. First Minister Truman made the wise decision to direct the Frémont National Guard's resources to our eastern border. But I can pledge to you that our trading relationship with other regions and nations will not suffer due to this extreme, party-line stalling of these necessary health measures.

Whoever wins in October, be that the incumbent president or otherwise, will be facing a mess. We need to hold all our leaders to account. Our policymakers and storyline writers who have expressed disinterest in the game must, if so necessary, be replaced by competent and trustworthy men and women of public service.

We need leadership. And we need leadership now.

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.

If the last week is any guide, I am fully expecting Scott to storm the Fremont Parliament with a pro-independence militia.
