Poll
Question: If Trump crushes Bernie (for example, 2016 plus MN and NH), and the Republicans make significant gains in the House, what happens to his movement? Does it go the way of the Tea Party, or continue to grow after the devastating loss?
#1
The Democratic Socialist movement is over

#2
The DS movement is down, but not out, and will present its next candidate in 2028/2032

#3
The DS movement maintains good numbers in Congress, but the power it had in 2019-2021 is taken away for sabotaging what should have been an easy election

#4
The DS movement remains a substantial minority within the party and continues to drive policy

#5
Even if the scenario presented in the question occurs, it will be the DS Democrats who hang on, and they'll be the majority of the Democrat caucus going into 2021

I expect option 2 is most likely, but any of them besides 5 are possibilities.

Option 2. The 2024 Democratic nominee is probably a moderate, and they would likely win after two terms of Trump fatigue, but the Bernie wing of the party doesn't fully go away. They'll still have a few members in Congress, so they'll keep themselves alive through that. AOC probably runs as its standard-bearer in 2032, but the political environment and mood of the electorate are impossible to predict this far out, so who knows how she'd actually do.

The progressive wing would collapse and Gavin Newsom or some other center-leftist will be elected in 2024. During his presidency, the progressive wing will basically reconstruct itself, fueled by the neoliberal presidency and the internal conflict with it.

If you people think that Sanders crushing Trump will quiet the left wing of the party, you haven't been paying attention for the last three years. Persecution complex and siege mentality are such integral parts of the Sanders movement that red rose twitter (the "intellectual" force behind the Sanders campaign) will be claiming the Democratic Party of stabbing Sanders in the back by September if his poll numbers are bad enough.

If you people think that four more years of Trump won't continue to push mainstream Democratic voters left, then you also haven't been paying attention for the last three years. As the party grows younger and less white, and as Donald Trump continues to do touchdown dances in Team Fascist's end zone, then the median Democratic voter will move further away from the fiscal hawk, white identitarian-fusionism of the modern GOP.

It wont happen due to the corruption of Trump. The acquittal of Trump didnt exonerate Trump, he still has to face voters and the legal process as a private citizen

Without question. Anecdotally, when GWB was reelected, I heard significant introspection among the Party faithful. I remember the president of our college DFL chapter turning to me on election night and asking, "What's wrong with our party?!" Well, post-2016, I've heard very little of that. Instead, the sentiment seems to be, "WTF is wrong with Republican voters? WTF is wrong with this country?" Is this situation even salvageable, or are we headed toward dissolution and/or white trash despotism? Ideologically and temperamentally, I'm much closer to Barack Obama than Bernie Sanders, but the prospect of incremental progress seems increasingly bleak in the face of a rabid, racist, authoritarian cult.
