Can Feingold carry the dems over the top?

No. Allen is a very hard man to beat. You add a moderate VP like Giuliani, it only makes him harder to beat.

Giuliani isn't that moderate by GOP standards. Nor is Lieberman liberal by Democratic standards. Personally, I don't think either of the two would settle for the vice-presidency, due to their name recognition relative to these presidential contenders. I'll have someone else some comment on the Democratic ticket being all Jewish.

Anyway, what makes Allen such a sure winner other than dubious endorsements by Rush Limbaugh?

Yes, basically by carrying Ohio:

Missouri, Colorado, and Florida are also possibilities, though less so.  The midwest is in awful economic shape, and there is a great deal of Bush/Republican fatigue that would carry over to Allen, because he offers nothing new.

If Russ Feingold wins the nomination and chooses Joe Lieberman for his VP I will literally eat my shoes.  I can't vote for a ticket with Joe on it but I'd probably have to write in Feingold. =)

I also dislike Leiberman.  But I think we have nothing to worry about - why on earth would Feingold pick not only a useless old semi-Republican, but a second jew for the ticket?

Funny how they're both against gay marriage.

If Feingold won and Lieberman was his VP, Feingold would probably get killed.

Allen defeats Feingold.  It would be fairly close, but Allen is seen as the more Presidential and capable of the office.  Allen is a mainline conservative.  He would keep the Republican base intact.  The Democrats would not make any inroads into the south with Feingold.  Feingold is too liberal to be acceptable to most of the country, especially in the area of national security.  Giuliani helps the Republican ticket in that a majority of independents swing to the GOP.  Lieberman looks tired and dull against Giuliani.

I believe Giuliani could as well be instrumental in making New York competitive, and in swinging Pennsylvania over to the GOP.  I have left Pennsylvania with Feingold, however, as I do not wish to enrage Opebo yet again by putting Pennsylvania in the Republican column.  Smiley

...not quite.  Even at the top of the ticket he loses NY by 10 points.

Jfern, come on, you can do better than that.

But Feingold/Lieberman is an awful ticket. Giuliani would be good for Allen, though. And VP is about the best he's gonna get. Lincoln would be good for Feingold. Or Obama, Richardson, or Clark.
