It's already pretty easy to register in Virginia as you can do it when you get/renew a drivers license.  I'm more interested in/hopeful that they make progress on early voting.  Right now you need an excuse from a list and you have to bring it or mail it to a central location in your county I believe.  They should have several weeks of early voting like a lot of other states do.
