Just heard on the radio that TV networks are being told to find alternate programming for next week & that Manfred is going around saying that if this weekend doesn't go well, then that might be it. So yeah, the season is probably gonna be halted or outright canceled.

And if this season stops, then it's over, because there's certainly no time left for a 2nd relaunch with actual protocols & a bubble to become a reality. They better focus on figuring something out for next season, because 1/3rd of this country are proud science-deniers & are still acting like f**king children.

So NBA & NHL it is, I guess! But hey, glad we at least got our 3 games in! What a tease.

Oh, & football is never gonna work either, & I doubt NBA & NHL are gonna play a whole season in the bubble next year either, so let's all hope that a successful COVID vaccine is found among the current candidates, because I don't see how sports successfully navigates all of this without one.

On the bright side, he's expected to make a full recovery.

However, how many more warning signs does MLB need before they decide that enough is enough? They're really playing with fire here, & I'm not even sure what's gained other than some TV money. I hope that they wise up in time before more players get really sick.

This sounds like literal fake news. Would love to see a source that isn't speculative reports radio chatter, which is right precisely never. The only people on Twitter demanding this termination are nobodies with an agenda to make everything look as bad as possible. The players do not want it. The owners definitely don't want it. Yesterday's words were clearly an empty threat to players to make them stop going to casinos and strip clubs (sounds like this is an America problem, not a baseball problem that dangerous indoor establishments are open). If the players had any respect for their managers and coaches, they would cut it out.

This is Rob Manfred we're talking about here. Given his habit of saying one thing one day then saying the opposite only days later, I'd be very surprised to see the season last another week. Basically none of the players are following any protocols, masks aren't mandatory (90% of the players in the dugouts are maskless), & they're still able to go out. Nobody (be it the players or the league) act like they actually give a sh*t about distancing.

So, yeah. The season is doomed.

This isn't  NFL thread but sports continue to be disastrous,  7 Patriots opt of their contracts not to play in 2020, without Pat's, even as Brady isnt there, Football and Baseball which are played on turf and grass arent the same. Players dont want to play without fans

Fantasy and sports gambling and lottery and casino tickets are on the downtrend as well

Manfred never should have put a schedule in place, especially if he wasn't willing to commit to a bubble.

Altuve and the Astros may have been roids and cheaters, but they are winners and without their choo, choo train and fans.  Altuve is hitting 152, average, they are the only team that feeds off fans

Pence was a steroid user and a base stealer from the Astros, that's why he won 3 titles with Giants. He is washed up now. So, is Buster Posey

Another perfect evening! I pranced down the length of JFK screaming when Judge homered as if it was an ALCS winner.

The Yankees still have a couple minor problems to work out, but I'm hopeful we identify a few teams willing to play ball (I don't think chasing the 8 seed is going to be a big goal in either league. Depends more how far ahead 7 is).

Yanks only have two SP and maybe Montgomery. Johnny Lasagna and a couple even younger guys have shown flashes, but I don't want them up against the Dodgers except in middle relief. I think Lance Lynn must be at the top the wish list. But if the Mets keep this up, I have to wonder what it takes to steal deGrom. They may have to be so non-competitive that the next two years won't look good without a young FA splash that needs salary space. Bringing Lynn back seems likeliest. Why not both though!

Other than that, just need to get Gleyber back on track. I thought Andujar would be much better, but ultimately, Urshela is overperforming again, so Miggy looks like he should be playing in Queens.

Today would be a good day for John Henry to sell the team to someone who gives a ****.

Again, he clearly gives a damn about Liverpool FC, the soccer (football) team he owns in England. They just won the Premier League easily.

https://www.radio.com/sports/mlb/mets-trade-for-speedy-outfielder-billy-hamilton-with-giants

We've also got an honest to goodness trade, something I thought we might not see (outside of teams clearly not trying to win).

The Mets traded Pitcher Jordan Humphreys to the Giants for Outfielder Billy Hamilton.

The Mets also traded Pitcher Tyler Bashlor to the Pirates for cash.

The Mets, Giants and Pirates are three of the four worst teams in the National League.

Can't take me out to the ballgame
Gotta stay away from the crowd
There won't be peanuts or crackerjacks
But I'm sure glad that baseball is back
Let me root for the health of the home team
If they get sick it's a shame
For it's 1, 2, 3 positive tests & you're out
At the COVID-era ball gaaaame.

Of course he does. That's why he traded Mookie in the first place. Soccer is more lucrative globally than baseball.

4-inning triple-headers incoming! Maybe 3-inning quadruple-headers? Who knows!? Let's get weird!

I just don't understand how they decided it was still a good idea to go to a casino after seeing what happened to the Marlins: "I can't believe those idiots went to a strip club. Anyway, who wants to go to a casino?"

It has to be noted here that the San Francisco Giants are most days playing Chadwick Tromp and Hunter Pence.

Didn't know Hunter was still playing and i have no idea what a Chadwick Tromp is, but I guess Tromp and Pence are supposed to make SF great again.

I am not totally sold on Mookie Betts, he had Bougart in Boston to back him up. Dodgers are losing to a Padres team and Justin Turner is getting old and so is Kershaw. They paid Betts 365M before he won a title. They should have signed him for 110 to 220 M and saw what he did, it may or may not work out

Ugh. Yadi, DeJong, and 5 other Cardinals players tested positive for COVID-19.
