An announcement from Lincoln Councilor R2D2

Good morning everyone,

As many of you know, I launched an exploratory committee to run for Governor of Lincoln just over two weeks ago. My conversations since then have been encouraging, enlightening, and invigorating. I've taken this decision very seriously. I understand that a transition from our current Governor, Sestak, will not be easy, especially in the midst of this pandemic--but we must be able to count on a leader with deep conviction and commitment to do so.

The poll I commissioned last week found some very encouraging things--70% of respondents believe that Lincoln is headed in the right direction. This is a strong indicator that Sestak's leadership, coupled with the tireless work of our Council and our Chancellor, gracile, has brought about confidence from our citizens that we are not only working hard, but achieving lasting change as well.

When I returned to run for Council back in February, my main goal was to be active, advocate for the middle and lower classes, and find solutions that work best for our region in the long term. While I could not have foreseen the pandemic we now grapple with, I believe we have taken every available step to achieve those goals--and now I'm ready to do what I can to lead this region into the future.

That is why I am announcing today that I will be running for Governor of Lincoln.

Together, we will continue to fight for the disadvantaged. My 8 point plan to improve our region will guide my legislative agenda if I'm elected, so I look forward to hearing feedback about how we can make that plan better in any way--my ears are open. We are in this fight together. Left, right, or center--if you want to improve our region, then I will stand beside you.

Press Release: R2D2 celebrates Juneteenth

Today, Lincoln Councilor R2D2 released the following statement on Juneteenth:

Today marks one of the most important days in the history of our nation: Juneteenth. The celebration of the liberation of slaves held in captivity in the former United States. This day is powerfully important for communities of color as they celebrate the first of many long fought battles for their freedom. But that fight has not ended and we must not pretend that institutional and structural racism ended when slaves were freed. These communities are still battling racist policing, job hiring and lending practices, as well as societal injustices and stereotypes. As we go to the polls this weekend to cast our ballots, we are reminded of the freedoms that we are endowed with. But we cannot forget that injustice still exists in this country--and, as the saying goes, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. I extend a very happy Juneteenth to all black Atlasians on this day, but with the explicit promise that we will keep fighting until we can truly celebrate the destruction of racism forever.

Good morning all,

I wanted to release an informal statement of congratulations to the many great candidates who were victorious this past weekend both federally and regionally. President Pericles has earned his re-election and I look forward to seeing the many great things his administration will accomplish this term. He is of course joined by Lincoln's Governor, Sestak, as Vice President. I wish nothing but the best to my friend as he begins his journey serving this great nation as VP.

I am encouraged that Labor will control both the House and Senate once again, though I would like to take this time to remind my friends in the party not to take this opportunity for granted. It will be pivotal to our success as a nation to involve our friends on the right in decision making and legislating. We should govern not with an iron fist but with an outreached hand. Let us usher in a new era of Atlasian unity and bipartisanship as we turn our eyes towards the future.
