I think it's unlikely that Sanders would run for reelection, which is one of the reasons why the VP pick is so important.

No, unless 2022 is the same as 2010 a midterm disaster, but Senate seats up in 2022 are in blue states. That's why DC statehood will circumvent a midterm disaster, 2 more D Senators in DC and a new D gov and D Rep can inoculate a midterm defeat.

Do so without filibuster

The only way I can envision this is if his approval rating among Democrats drops to a minority by 2023-24.

1. He won’t win in 2020
2. He will die before 2024 if he does win (aging on the presidency is rough)
3. If he somehow doesn’t do either, he won’t be primaried anyways.

That would depend on how successful his initiatives are. Rather than tarnishing their reputation by going against the party, smart Democrats would wait till 2028 and beyond to run. If you're a primary challenger and President Sanders loses 2024, you're no doubt going to be blamed for the opponent's victory.

He would probably forgo reelection, as he would be 83 on election day in 2024. Also, his Presidency more than most would involve lots of confrontation with Republicans in Congress, and so he would have to spend a lot of time appealing directly to voters at rallies and in speeches. If he were to get a challenge in 2024, it would be on the basis of his age more than anything.

Yes, President Sanders will run for reelection in 2024 and will face minimal Democratic opposition.

He will be 84. I think he shouldn't run again.

He will never be President but in the unlikely scenario this travesty happens then yes.  Democrats would have to coalesce around one person and not split their vote 10 ways.  The economy is already headed for a recession so if Bernie is in I could see a full blown depression.  Or he just follows the capitalist system status quo.  Either way he'll be weak in a primary.

Regarding President Sanders, my wife, Taylor Swift might primary him.
