..yeah, though Eyman isn't really an independent. He's described himself as an 'independent republican'. Also, he's AWFUL. I don't understand how he's not in jail right now for the number of times he's committed crimes as part of his ridiculous initiative campaigns.

This could end up being the largest margin of victory in a gubernatorial race since 1996 when the GOP nominated social conservative Ellen Craswell.

Why is Eyman particularly terrible? Is he a Matt Shea clone or something?

Why is Eyman particularly terrible? Is he a Matt Shea clone or something?

This story was from 2019:

Quote
Anti-tax crusader Tim Eyman has reached a settlement on the charges that he stole a $70 rolling chair from a Lacey Office Depot earlier this year.

And --

Quote
He’s being sued by state Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who alleges that Eyman has used money donated to his initiative campaigns to enrich himself. His company, Watchdog for Taxpayers, has been held in contempt of court and fined $500 a day for more than a year for not handing over documents relevant to the lawsuit.

He's a con artist and a thief, albeit a stupid one.  Cheesy

Locke's margin of victory was even bigger in 2000, FYI.

I have no problems at all with Inslee, and I'll gladly vote for him for reelection. I do wish we could have had some fresh candidates this year, though. I think Ferguson, Constantine, Habib, and probably several others all could have made decent runs had Inslee decided to stop at two terms. That's not to say they won't just run in 2024, but Democrats really have a problem with the small number of under-60s in senior positions, given how young the base of the party is, and it shows in our leading presidential candidates.

We do have fresh candidates in VT with Zuckerman and Volinsky in NH whom are promising to raise minimum wage, Scott and Sununu are the last of the NE Moderates. Hogan is term limited in 2022

Baker will be the last one

Since when did Washington have a blanket primary?

Washington Initiative 872 was passed by the voters in 2004, and established Washington's blanket primary.

I have a friend who lives in Seattle. One sure fire way to trigger him is to mention Eyman. I thought CA had some bad uses of initiatives. Eyman’s efforts in WA take the cake.
